★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rushed and hectic from the dock until the end. Very little time actually looking at or learning about Mayan ruins. Only 2 guides for large group. Nice ranch but wish we had chosen a different excursion for our family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a really great (and relaxing) excursion in Cozumel at the Buenavista ranch horseback riding.. Total chill out day on the 600 acre ranch and then a stop off at a restful beach on the way back to the ship. Julio was a perfect guide to spend the time with. Highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don’t think I’d do this trail ride again personally. The horses aren’t exactly well trained in my personal opinion when I did this in December of 2018 (never thought to make a review until now). On our trail ride a horse kicked out at another horse while we were stopped and learning about a section on the ride, almost lost the rider. Many horses don’t like each other, and they allow riders to ride more ‘fresh/green’ horses that are still fairly young. My own horse actually tried to buck me off at one point, named Rosita. I wish they had taken more than one picture of each, as all I have to remember the experience is the photo they took before we set off, and some clips I took on my phone from ontop the horse. On the plus side, this ranch is very beautiful and secluded, and I personally enjoyed the tour myself, other than when my horse and other people’s horses began to act out. The staff, including the trail leaders/instructors were so extremely kind. The horses were gorgeous and seemed to be taken care of well, I simply wish they were better trained for those who have no experience whatsoever with horses.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fun experience and worth the money. We came here through Carnival Cruise lines. Everyone was nice, and the horseback experience was great. The trails were fun, but we were out in the sun the entire time and it was definitely hot. Wear long pants no matter what. Horseback riding in shorts is not a good idea. Couple had to walk back as halfway through they started to chafe and had huge sores on their thighs. The bush was interesting to see, they had brought in some "artifacts" or imitations for tourists to see but overall it was nice to get out into nature. On the way back we stopped at a beach with overpriced food and beer so wait until you get back to the port for that. They will try to keep you there as long as they can so be mindful of that.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My husband and I booked this as one of our excursions! It was great! Enjoyed riding through Mayan ruins as our guide Carlos told about the Mayan people and shared insight into artifacts and ancient settlements! Carlos made sure to match our experience with horses to the right horse. There was a group of ten of us and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience! After our ride we went to a small ocean side stop with a little restaurant and scenic views! It was beautiful! We highly recommend booking with this group!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here through Royal Caribbean and it was absolutely amazing.
The tour guide, Carlos, and his horse wrangler, were great about making sure everyone in the group were comfortable with our horses; they were so patient with one of the other guests who pretty quickly realized horse riding wasn't for them ??? The tour itself was informative and the scenery was beautiful.
Make sure to bring cash as there's a little store at the ranch, the opportunity to buy a picture of you on your horse, and for food and drinks at the beach bar you stop (for about 30-40 mins) after the ride. I got a margarita and a chicken quesadilla (total: $18) and both were fantastic; my only complaint is that I think the quesadilla could've been a bit larger for its price but *shrug*
All this to say that the next time I come back this way, I'll be booking this tour again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked the Mayan Ruins Horseback Trail Ride as our cruise excursion and it was AWESOME! We went on a Wednesday and we were the only ones (three adult and one teenage brothers plus our mother) so we basically had a private experience. We’re told this is common, the large groups (20+) usually happen on the weekends. It’s a 30 minute ride in a rickety open air bus to the ranch which is tucked into the forest. My brothers are not confident riders with very little experience (my mother and I are intermediates) but they gave us very gentle easygoing horses. Perhaps too easy; they like to go along the trail one particular way and follow in a line, difficult to change their minds if you want to change pace or direction. Our tour guide Tony was lovely, very careful and helpful, very encouraging, and a great storyteller. After the ride there is free cold drinks, and booze for sale. Make sure you have some tequila! Then you get a quick visit to the beach before your ride back into town, with plenty of time for shopping before getting back to the boat. All in all just a super experience, cannot recommend enough!!
