A truly magical place to stay. Absolutely LOVED IT! From the moment we checked in, greeted by friendly guards at the gate to being served a delicious and refreshing lime-water whilst checking in. The little casitas are all AC-ed and have WiFi. Ours was v.near the Los Hechizos restaurant and also the pool+Hot tub. The views of Laguna Bacalar are phenomenal. The resort arranges for Water Sports Activities. We did kayaking on the Laguna (helped by a friendly guy, Jhovany) and then we did a boat tour+swimming/snorkelling too which was also arranged - THIS WAS AMAZING. The hot tub is nice. The restaurant Los Hechizos is v.good too. 100% RECOMMEND + WOULD DEFINITELY RETURN.

Amazing place to stay in a very green natural place and have a good level of comfort at the same time. Service is high standard. Personnel well trained. Nice restaurant with lagoon view, private pier with hammocks and sun beds. Puddle boards and kayaks available free of charge. Sunrise view from the pier - which is just amazing!

Beautiful location in front of the most magnificent lagoon I have ever seen. Restaurante Los Hechizos by far one of the best in the region. There was an incident where the waiter spilled hot soup on my legs but it was a true accident. The chef and staff were very attentive of the situation. We stayed in the garden view casita. Don’t know about the rest of the rooms here but ours was in major need of renovation. There was a creepy Mayan wall painting next to our bed that was not pleasant to look at all. They all had demon like faces. Definitely not something you want to look at before you go to sleep or first thing when you wake up. We will like to go back soon but this time we would like to stay in a different room.

I can not speak higher than rancho encantado, we had the best time here. 1.) beautiful rooms, amazing spaces and environment. Very relaxing, peaceful spaces. 2.) some of the best food at the restaurant in the hotel that I’ve had in Mexico. Really, really great food. High quality. 3.) friendly staff, 24/7 security gate. 4.) beautiful lake amenities We choose to explore around bacalar, but we probably could have just stayed within rancho encantado and enjoyed ourselves!! The only thing I would recommend is to bring bug spray! Lots of bugs especially at night (bacalar is in the jungle!)

It's one of those unexpected places where you can really disconnect: far from town, quiet. Superb restaurant food (don't miss huevos motuleños) and lots of activities to choose from, I'd go kayaking anytime!

It’s an okay hotel but overrated by what the reviews say. The restaurant has good food and pretty views. Everything else was mediocre. There are lots of mosquitoes everywhere, the rooms basic with no tv, the beds kinda hard/uncomfortable, the laguna view we payed extra for was decent but mostly blocked by trees, the jacuzzi was warm but not truly hot to be enjoyable. Lastly, the staff is obsessed with micromanaging every detail. Constantly badgering you for your room number and monitoring who’s coming and going. They dont do room charges so they will hunt you down to pay immediately whereas an organized hotel could just let you pay at check out. Also, $50 USD charge for quick use of the dock if you want another tour company to pick you up/drop you at the hotel is just pure greed! It’s a decent choice but not the best, sorry to say.

Very much enjoyed our three night stay at Rancho Encantado. The setting is extremely beautiful, set in a lush garden, and by the water there is great views over the lagoon. It is evident they try to maintain as much of the nature in the surroundings, and there are gardeners in constant action maintaining the place. The whole place is very peaceful and the bungalows are spacious. Ours had a balcony, as well as a mini fridge and a coffee maker. They make up the rooms nicely and refill the coffee / tea. There is even a tap with drinkable water. The breakfast is good with many options. The restaurant is decent - we had lunch here three times, as well as dinner one time. The coffee (except in the morning) is awful, so we appreciated the coffee maker in the room. You can rent paddle-boards and kayaks for free. Highly recommend the boat trip on the lagoon, it was one of the highlights of our stay in Bacalar. It is wonderful to hang in the hammocks or sunbathe in deck chairs on the little pier. Later, the jacuzzi is nice place to chill. I highly recommend the place. The reason for not getting a 5 are minor fault, like that the infrastructure- especially the pier and deck chairs - lacks maintenance, as well as the jacuzzi. The room also felt a bit dated.
