Excellent place to camp, you are much closer to the top. The shelter helps protect you from the cold and rain, you can stay there to sleep but it is not so recommended since on weekends it fills up, many people come and go so they do not let you rest. It is recommended to bring appropriate equipment and clothing so as not to get cold as the weather is very changeable. From the jewel to the refuge it is almost 4km of pure slope but it is worth it and the views are spectacular, of course if there is no fog! If you venture to climb to the top you will be amazed, from the refuge to there it is approximately 3.5km but the most difficult. I was trying to climb to the top and on the 4th attempt I succeeded. Many times the weather does not let you go further.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful refuge... and mountain... and hike... and country. The conditions are quite basic, but for this altitude and remoteness, if you’re expecting the Hilton you’ve come to the wrong place. Spectacular hike...permafrost glacier at the top is well worth the treacherous onward hike (hike beyond the refuge). Best to come prepared for the cold (I wasn’t, and used socks as gloves). Beware: Trail is not always well marked. I got semi-lost a few times but luckily I ran into guided groups that helped me out...you may not be so lucky, so beware.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most difficult hikes I've done, yet one of the most rewarding.
