DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE . ALL car rental places in cancun prey on tourist and attempt to scam you with their extremely overpriced insurance that you must take. If not they will not rent you the car and give you the run around. DO NOT PURCHASE BOOKING.com Insurance, the rental companies in Cancun or tulum will tell you it’s “invalid”. Only place I recommend to rent a car from: ENTERPRISE, ALAMO, NATIONAL - American companies that will not scam you.

AVOID! They will lie, cheat and steal >$1000 from you. Hidden insurance fees of $450 even if you've already bought insurance because they refuse to work with other insurance companies. Then they charged $600 for a car returned with no damages, ignoring photo evidence provided at drop off.

Not a great experience but cheap. They are advertised as Economy Rental car but are actually America Rental car. Pretty weird. Front desk says they aren’t going to charge your card for the deposit but they definitely do…and it’s $1,800. The guy inspecting the car asked for a tip, which happens no where else in Mexico. The cars they have are not great and the suvs they advertise are smaller in person. The return process was actually very quick which was surprising but I wouldn’t recommend saving a couple hundred bucks over using a better company.

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!!!! I would give them zero stars if I could. This place was a total scam. I booked through a third party RentalCars.com and when we arrived we were told our original car (compact vehicle) was not available and that we would HAVE to upgrade, It was just my fiance and I so we did not want to anything bigger. They wanted to charge us an additional $300 for the upgrade. I was not happy but was willing to do it however we were in Mexico for a family event (wedding) and we were tired. We were then told about the insurance policy (I was aware that an $8,000 deposit would be held in case of an accident/damage, and was okay with that as that was previously outlined in the terms), they were insistant on additional coverage. I mentioned that I had additional coverage through my credit card company (American Express) they stated that we were supposed to provide a voucher number that was to be emailed from American Express to America Car Rental, I called American Express and they were unsure about what this "voucher number" was while I was on hold with American Express the people at the counter stated that even if I was to get through to my card that they wouldnt be able to help me as it takes several days for the email to arrive to America Car Rentals, and that I needed to purchase the addtional insurance through them. Then they stated that it wasnt their policy it was Mexican Law that I needed third party insurance. They wanted to charge us an addtional $600 for that. I spoke with my brother who had rented a car through a different company that SAME time (two days prior for the same family event) and wanted to make sure that it wasnt just me misunderstanding the insurance policies. He spoke with them on the phone and stated the same that the $8,000 deposit and my card insurance should be enough and they stated it was Mexican law despite him renting a car USING THE SAME THINGS (the deposit and his card) just two days before. We left and went to a different company around the corner. It was cheaper and had absolutely NO issues. while we were gathering our items to leave we heard 3 other customers experiencing similar issues. One guy was upset that they were charging him for a scratch on the car that was there previously he had pictures and finally stormed out, save yourself the stress when you are on a vacation, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

SCAM! Worst car rental ever. Don’t go there. We got charged for the tire in the trunk that was magically “not there anymore” when they opened the car without us because we were dealing with something else. They put it somewhere when we were not looking. SCAM. Don’t give your money to thieves thank you. And by the way the car was empty when they gave it to us, no gas and no product for the window, plus we had a sign on the board coming a few hours after we started to drive and we contacted us and they never fixed it. Unprofessional and could be more clever people.

Horrible experience. We rented a car with amedius(Nu car rental) so we were looking for that for at least an hour in the area. The address was not cleared so the local people couldn’t help (we showed the address to the people who worked in the bank or at the store and no one heard of it. We tried calling customer service and it never went through. We found a rental place so we went inside and asked. Turned out it’s actually America car rental not nu car rental. The manager said they were closed and told us he would save us the car for the following day. The following day, we went in, not only he didn’t save us the car. He was giving us attitude, raising his voice, blaming us for not being there at 9am to pick up the car when we booked the car for 4 pm. He even insulted us and said it’s our fault that we can’t pick up the car. I mean who would go pick up the car at 9 am when the reservation is at 4pm. He said he told us to come get it at 9 which he never did. We are not morning people so we definitely wouldn’t have agreed to that. I told him to check the surveillance camera to listen to what he told us the day before and he refused and yelled at us in Spanish. Yes, the pice is cheap but do you really want to waste your vacation looking for a rental place with horrible customer service and doesn’t even exist on the map? There’s nobody to reach out to if sth happens. Don’t let the name fool you. It’s America car rental but they don’t have the service a normal American would expect. Good luck and spend your money where it’s really worth it.

Lookout!! a huge scam. We had rented a car for 3 weeks and we already fixed an all-in insurance from a third pary upfront. When we arrived we could take the rental car only if we took an extra insurance of €370 (this was absolutely not optional). Never rent a car from this company and never pay in advance because you will regret it. Canceling the rental and getting a refund was absolutely not an option with this company. Because the pick-up address of the cars is not at the airport but on a deserted site, you also have little choice to go for another option. The only positive was the car and the way of returning it Eventually we got a car and we had two insurance policies, in short we paid way too much.

BEWARE huge scam. My credit card has insurance for car rentals but they still wanted me to buy their insurance on the crappiest card they had. It wasn't even the car I originally rented. They told me it was going to be a $8,000 deposit. Wow. I had to haggle them down to a $500 car deposit because we were all tired and cranky. Then they tried selling us a booze cruise for $160 each. Ridiculous. I know you guys are trying to make money, but this was the most frustrating experience we have ever had. Bonus, the cars AC didn't even work.
