★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good trip with family for Christmas. Staff were helpful and cabins were nice. They were very very cold at night so be sure to prepare for that. There are fires in each of the 'cabins' (not in fact cabins, they are small brick houses), however the ventilation isn't great so the rooms got smokey very quickly, not great for sleeping in. But overall, a great base to make more adventures out of!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service is very attentive although reservations seem to be unnecessarily tedious (they hold the room for only one day, you have to pay for it in a bank, no transfers allowed due to the short notice time, then you have to mail the transfer confirmation and then call to make sure they saw it!). Prices are very reasonable, rooms are modest but very clean and facilities are very well kept. Nearby is the Malinche volcano, which is a very nice hike.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to spend a weekend. Nice trails to hike up the mountain and beautiful scenery. Cabins are spacious but get cold at night due to poor door seals. You can purchase small bundles of wood at the store when open but quantity is limited and it can be damp. The store is small, only 3 people will fit at one time, and has only basic things like snacks, drinks and miscellaneous odds and ends. It does not sell matches or fire starters to aid in starting your firewood so I highly recommend you bring them unless you want to drive 30 minutes to town to get some. The restaurant isn't five star, nor should it be, but has decent food at a reasonable price. The office lacks any convenient means of communication outside of physically going there to voice any concerns or discrepancies you may find with your cabin. This isn't a major problem if you are from a similar altitude but when you are not the 10,000' altitude can make it a small chore going up the stairs from your cabin. The only issue with the place is even though they have handicap parking the cabins are not accessible from the parking lot for anyone requiring a ramp to ascend/decend as there aren't any. I had seen a couple carrying their child in a stroller up the stairs and thought how crazy it is there aren't any ramps along the stairs. Even though i am from an elevation of 700' and totally got my butt kicked going up the stairs, i look forward to returning for another great weekend in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic camping resort. Not much for heat in the cabins, but it adds to the overall experience. Lots of fun stray dogs running around.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I didnt stay in the cottage. I just camped there over night. I came in around 7:45 pm ish and the people were pretty nice - right from the gate security to anyone else I interacted with. The restaurant was still open amd so was the store. If they have vacancies, you can book a cottage right then and there.
