★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In the middle of nowhere, on a mountain pass. Service and food was ok. The friend I was with told me was a really great place b4, not so much now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Do not know why it is highly rated. We went in for a bite and there was no one at the podium. The waiter/weitres were running around without guidance. The place was a little more that half full yet the staff seem to be in the middle of chaos.
We left since there was a bit of disarray.
Maybe next time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We really appreciated the view and quiet ambiance of this restaurant. Service was fast and courteous too. But the food wasn't great. Unusually for a restaurant that caters for tourists, no quarter was given for the level of Chile in the dishes. We're no wimps but the mushroom cocktail was near inedibly spicy, my kids had to leave most of their green enchiladas, and the green pipiam mole packed a punch (but was the pick of what we ordered). The most disappointing was the brown mole. It seemed like it had been sitting in a bubbling pot all day, and was far too cloying and dense, and tasted, not burnt, exactly, but definitely overcooked.
All in all, not what we expected and a mixed experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing food. Go to the top floor and you'll have a breathtaking view of the central square of this well named, magical town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is probably the best restaurant we ate at in Cuetzalan. Nice ambience, live music, friendly staff and a really nice view looking over the birds of prey circling the rooftops and church in the town. For the food it is was what you'd expect as traditional Mexican food. All three of their house specialities are really tasty, but nothing you haven't tried before (the "Mexican" one had fried cactus which was really good though).
However they truly accommodated to our younger picky eater in the group's needs! He ordered a "Milanese" which is some sort of chicken schnitzel (tasty) but he asked for potato fries while it is usually served with salad or rice. They didn't have any but after a loong wait they actually served some anyway! Carefully cut potato fries made by hand. Incredible.
Also, try the Yolixpa!
