The Allium chefs are known for their green fingers; quality control being that much easier when your produce comes from your own rooftop garden. With a philosophy that champions small, artisanal producers – think Atonilco cheeses, Ajijic vegetables, Nayarit seafood – the inventive farm-to-table menu comprises almost 100% Mexican ingredients. Representative is an ‘escamoles toast’ starter, which takes ant larvae to a whole new level, and ‘risotto de huitlacoche’, with smoked shiitake mushrooms, Grana Padano and a beef reduction. Cocktails are superb – try the Gin/Tuna for a fun twist on a G&T infused with tuna fruit – service exceptional, and the tree-shaded patio, a delight.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had dinner at Allium pre-COVID, and I dined there again tonight. Everything was still excellent. I ordered their beef cheeks with portobello mushroom and foie gras, followed by a mamey panna cotta as dessert. Beef cheeks dish was not too heavy. Just the right quantity. Service was friendly as usual. I'll return for sure.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Allium was the gastronomical highlight of my trip to Guadalajara. A really cute open air boutique restaurant with great menu and good selection. On our visit they had 241 promotion for wine.
The food uses freshest local seasonal ingredients and were beautifully presented. We were hesitant to try the ant larvae (Mexican caviar) but curiosity got the better of us and we’re glad it did! It was cooked in garlic butter on top of freshly baked brioche. It was savoury and sweet; amazing taste sensation.
Unfortunately our meal got cut short due to heavy storms and they lost electricity. We were gutted and went back the next day as we really wanted to try their duck breast and Ox tongue. Unfortunately their electricity was still out ? Adolfo was so apologetic and gave us a bottle of tequila. We were so touched by his king gesture. Which restaurant does that?! We’ll definitely have to do another trip to Allium to complete our meal.

The staff was friendly and the service was good! I visited there with a friend from Belgium.It is a good memory in our list of places in Guadalajara.
We got a nice dinner with some traditional Mexican dishes, a bottle of sparkling wine and yummy dessert.
