★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were brought here by a tour guide for food and locally made crafts and souvenirs. Before entering the shop we recieved a blessing from a Mayan with a non compulsory 'tip'. We then entered and felt like the staff were telling us everything about items we merely looked at to make a sale and following us very closely. We picked up a few items which we knew were cheaper elsewhere and some mass produced but buying here helps locals. On the drive through you can see the shanty style villages slowly being updated from timber structures to brick as they are able to make more money taking the sting away. The food tasted good and considering the lack of infrastructure around neither of us ended up unwell. It did feel a little risky but most people are without to much consideration. Buffet meal included a salad mix, tomato, Pico de gallo, rice, taco fillings and a good amount of tortillas. The salsa was extra hot so be warned. We were not allowed to bring our water in to the food hall and had to leave it on the bus. Food was included in the tour but a sprite and coke cost 90 pesos. We also had our pictures taken on arrival then printed onto a bottle of Mayan Sprits as another attempt to sell. As we left we shared a Mayan toast with the spirit and left. The toilets were basic but clean. Although pleasant the pushy sales were frustrating
