Been in CDMX for 3 weeks now trying all the food spots. Turns out this place is new. And they make really good Tacos al pastor!!! Ooof so good, gonna have to come back again—really want to try their Rifado (it’s basically an “open-faced” taco on a flour tortilla, with your choice of meat filling or mushroom!—topped with grilled-melted cheese) UPDATE (3 days later): Came back for the Rifado…and holy Maillard reaction, Batman! (If you know food science, then you know I’m talking about that savory, umami flavor that comes from when amino acids and sugars are rearranged during the proper cooking process). The Rifado has the perfect balance of burnt bits—the crispy caramelization of gooey Manchego-like cheese and the crispy crust of al pastor with the juicy meaty inside. That you can get this for $30 pesos is a steal!! And after last night, spending nearly 3x that amount at El Califa for their Costra (which is like the Rifado)…simply put, don’t bother. Come here and get 3 Rifados for the price of 1 Costra at El Califa…and the quality will be MUCH better. In fact, the al pastor here is much better than you’re getting at other places—essentially if your al pastor had perfectly separated “bands” of meat colored reds, pinks, and white fat…then it’s low quality al pastor (because that’s a sign their stacking their meat with cheaper parts of pork, but if you like it that way, go for it, more power to you!). However, you should come here and compare it yourself; you’ll taste the difference. Be patient—you want some burned bits in your meat for full flavor. See last 3 photos of the Rifados (I tried the al pastor which was perfect, then the bistec, and lastly the mushroom for my vegetarian friends). Above all else, it’s that cheese—if you’re tried pupusas from El Salvador, then you know how the cheese bursts through the seams and gets all crispy on the grill—yeah that’s what you’ll also get with the Rifado! Savor it!!!! Update Sep 9: New Expanded Menu! They’ve got tortas now fml

New taco spot around the corner in Condesa has amazing tacos! We tried the Carnitas tacos with all the five types of meats and the salsa verde was amazing. The team behind it is also super nice, they treated us to Taco Al Pastor for free on our way out! How nice of them :) highly recommend this local and clean spot.
