A nice hotel in a nice cozy place, but I wouldn't recommend it. Unfortunately I cannot be positive about the service of this hotel. I had booked through Booking.com so they didn't accept credit card payment. Because I didn't have enough cash with me for 4 nights, I had to immediately look for a bank. Which in itself is not bad, but if you have been traveling for more than 24 hours, suffer from a time difference, we are from Europe. The ATM in front of the door was broken, that made no difference to them, they insisted us to find a bank. It was also the hottest time of the day. They didn't want to let us freshen up and recover: no we had to pay all nights in advance. Because we really enjoyed the place, we came back after 2 weeks of traveling around. This time without reservation. According to Maxima, there were only rooms with air conditioning, which are twice as expensive. When we decided to look elsewhere, there was suddenly a room available. And again in the hottest part of the day, after a 6 hour bus journey first to the bank, because the credit card service had a malfunction, without having seen the room we had to pay all nights in advance. The room we got, turned out to be full of big red ants. Someone was sent with a chemical aerosol who then wanted us to sleep in that poisonous air. Fortunately, we were well helped by Myrian. She gave us a room with air con for 1 night so we could get another room without air con the next night. We paid for 4 nights and a reservation/option for 2 more nights. Unfortunately, Maxima did not keep to our agreement, again only expensive rooms were available. And again miraculously a room was suddenly available when we said to look for another hotel. Which of course we did, we didn't want to stay here anymore. Maxima doesn't realize that some people like me, who don't speak Spanish very well, but DO understand it very well. I listened to her gossiping about guests together with the chambermaids and made fun of them. Maxima clearly has 2 faces. The chambermaids didn't have to do much for us. Just sweep the floor and clean towels. This was already asking too much for them. We were given either no towels at all or old and worn cloths that previously seemed to mop the floor. A floor towel for the bathroom was completely hard to get, you definitely need this, the floor is so slippery after showering, I fell very hard I had a lot of bruises. The chambermaids laughed every time I came to ask for a floor towel. The rooms without air conditioning are very hot, because the rooms only have large windows on the sunny side. The air conditioning rooms which cost double, are in the cooler places. There is a bar that is a major nuisance from drunken, screaming guests, especially during and after happy hour. Before our arrival I had asked if the bar was a nuisance because I had read about this. They wrote that the bar was closed years ago. It is clear that the hotel staff does not trust the guests, but unfortunately they themselves prove to be unreliable. Luckily there are many, many nicer friendly hotels in Puerto Escondido and they didn't ruin our trip with their unfriendly behavior.

Old rooms, smells dirty, no air condition, small bathrooms, the shower was awful and there are cockroaches EVERYWHERE. The bar was only nice thing in here.
