Royal Villas Resort - 82110 Mazatlán

We went to a "salsa and salsa" event here and the place is gorgeous, open air and the service was spot on. We really had a great time and being right on the beach, the pool, the very cool lobby and interior - it all added up to an excellent experience.

The staff was efficient and friendly. Our favorite wait person is Mario, he was friendly, fun and very attentive. We look forward to seeing him again next year.

We were here only briefly as part of the Salsa and Salsa excursion but we really enjoyed ourselves in the beautiful facility. There is easy access to the beach, an outdoor pool with a slide, and excellent food and drinks at the bar. Salsa and salsa is a fun activity in the main area of Royal Villas resort where guests can learn 6 salsa recipes, 2 margarita recipes and couples salsa dance. Our tour guide Alicia was very fun!

We booked a room with a king bed as close to the ocean as possible! The room we got had a king but faced a building under construction and new sun! They moved us to a room on the other side of the hotel but apparently only have 5 king beds in the whole hotel so no king bed! The clerk that checked us in tried to run our card three times. She asked if I had told my bank we would be in Mexico and I told the clerk that I would call my bank in the morning! After using all my minutes with the likely aspect of overage of my minutes, she then tells me this morning it was their machine and the internet was down! She did not tell me that last night and was quite disgusted when I told her she had not explained that fact during checking in! Wasted over a hour and all my minutes this morning due to her lack of service! I would have simply run my card this morning had she told me it was their machine! We requested a double plug to plug in a device behind the TV and was told at noon they had one and would bring it up! At 7:30 after several phone calls we are now told they are all in use! The amenities are not what we would expect for the price of the hotel! If we could find another hotel we would move! Very disappointed as it has taken us a full day to try to establish ourselves in our room! We will persevere but will not likely come back another time unless we find our stay improves! UPDATE After a week we are finally into the room we should have had at the beginning! Christian and Marcos were awesome in finally arranging the accommodation we had expected when booking this resort! Now we can settle in for the vacation we were so looking forward to!

We have been staying at Royal Villas for over 10 years as we have a timeshare here. We are leaving today after a 2 week stay and are very disappointed. Almost every night there is a celebration/party in the downstairs area by the pools. Loud music until 1 or 2 a. m. Very little sleep while here. During the daytime the run Salsa y Salsa classes in the dining area so no way to relax at the pool. Very little consideration is given to guests staying at hotel. Not a good stay for us.

Great place in front of the beach! Very professional service. Excellent food! In my opinion I would like them to have free coffee and water all day long around the lobby.

This hotel is pretty good overall. The staff are great and once they get to know you, you'll have exceptional service. But make the effort to overcome minor language barriers and you'll make great allies. The only negative is the oompa bands that play on the beach out front during the afternoons. The hotel and most guests put up with them but they are super annoying. The mornings were the best with few people poolside and on beach so it's a nice solitude.

The view is nice, the swimming pool area, the beach front and the restaurant is awesome but the rooms are bad. Mold everywhere, the smell is awful, you can smell the humidity inside the room in the sheets and just in general in the air. Found a little cockroach on the floor and another little bug that I don’t know what is was on the bed. We were in the room just during the night that is why we were able to handle it, otherwise I would of left. The safe wasn’t ready to use because someone locked it and had to wait for someone to shop up the next morning so I just didn’t use it. The fridge wasn’t working so we had to get it replaced by another dirty fridge. For what they charge you would expect rooms in better conditions. The staff is great though. Google didn’t let me upload the video of the cockroach, don’t know why.
