★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La iglesia fue incendiada en 1926 por el gobernador del estado, tomas garrido canabal debido a que el creía en el ateísmo, dentro se encontraban católicos celebrando el día del santo que lleva en nombre la iglesia, años más tarde se creó un monumento a lado de la iglesia para recordar el suceso.
The church was burned in 1926 by the governor of the state, tomas garrido canabal because he believed in atheism, inside were Catholics celebrating the day of the saint that the church is named after, years later a monument was created next to the church to remember the event.
