Great food and excellent service, but portions are a little small.

Real sushi. Nigiris and sashimis are absolutely delicious. No hard liquor; just sake, wine and beer. Must try.

What a great new place! The salmon and tuna are some of the best I've had. Very soft. The king crab nigiri was one of the best I've had! The seaweed salad was a revelation! Can't wait to go back!

Japanese place with good food overall, one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Santa Fe

I was disappointed with Sakai. While the general service was very good, the seating area was uncomfortably cold because the heaters were not being used. Food wise I really liked the maki rolls and yakimeshi, the miso soup however was tasteless. The most disappointing thing was the extremely small portions sizes. I left the restaurant still feeling hungry which given the fact that my bill came to over $1000 was madness. I wouldn’t go back to the restaurant. There are far better alternatives in the Santa Fe area

Went with a big group on a Thursday. We all loved the ambience, the playlist was great! However we were dissatisfied with the food. I ordered the spicy salmon bowl and honestly the quality was not what you’d expect for a high end restaurant like this; it was not well cut and some pieces still had skin on them. I did enjoy the rice though. Someone ordered the udon soup and the noodles were so over cooked they were all broken so we had to send them back. The sushi rolls were another story, we all loved them, especially the Yorokobi. The service was attentive and friendly. I will come back to Sakai to give it another chance but sadly this time we did not have good luck.

I’m fairly disappointed to say that the general quality of the food had decreased since the last time I came. The “Tiradito de Totoaba” for starter was alright, Miso soup was also alright. Yorokobi roll was very good but it came in a smaller portion than a few months back & at the same price than before, Ikigai roll was just dry and mediocre. This place used to be one of the best Sushi places in Santa Fe, but apparently not anymore.
