I tried this place a number of times. Each time a disaster. First time..highlights = yellow hair, 2nd time pedi = too long and mucked up nails, 3rd time my mom got her hair cut...cost her more than in Canada, 4th time - pedi mani, couldn't finish the mani , too long my neck was killing me, left with scratched up toes and no paint on fingernails. Price ridiculously higher than Canada. Learned my lesson - GO TO ZIHUA. This place is way overpriced for the quality that you get and they take way too long to do manis and pedis. They take advantage of the local tourists.

I ruined my hair color on my own, and they rescued me with a Beautiful result, plus the manicures are very good with Edie

Buyer beware! This is a tourist trap and the owner/manager is very dishonest. There is a visa sign on the door but if you try to pay with a card they act like they can’t accept it and all of a sudden they don’t speak English anymore. My experience was I went in for a pedicure, I asked how much at the front desk for a pedicure and manicure and they quoted me $300 for a pedicure and $300 for a gel manicure. In Zihua you can get a pedicure for $150 and gel manicure for $200. This was very pricey for the area but options in Ixtapa are limited. Any place that doesn’t have a menu of prices is going to take advantage of you. The pedicure was okay, my technician was very sweet, but honestly i can do a better job. My next mistake was getting my nails done. I asked for a French on the gel polish, thinking it would only be a few extra dollars. It took FOREVER. And not a great job, but by the time she was done I was ready to get out of there. When I go to the register I’m told not only that they don’t accept Visa (even though their open/closed sign has a giant visa logo on it) and only the owner can do it but that my total was $900 pesos! ($45) I will have to come back tomorrow. I come back the next day and bring my friend. The owner who I heard speak English just fine the day before had totally forgotten it overnight. She again tells me that she doesn’t accept credit cards and I have to pay cash. I tell her that I am not paying $900 and that is not the price she quoted me the day before and that she is trying to take advantage of me. She throws her hands up very dramatically and says I don’t have to pay! That is not the point! I’m not trying to get anything free. I just want her to honor the prices she told me the day before. I ended up paying $700 because I didn’t want to shortchange the girl who did the actual work. Way more than I would ever pay for such a poor job. She is a slumlord salon owner and I have worked for people like her before. I just saw another review where they burned a lady’s hair off with a keratin treatment and I knew I had to leave a review. Just a side note- Now while I’m getting my nails and toes done, it took about 3 hours, I’m watching the owner/manager. She is getting her own hair colored, putting hair color on another lady and doing acrylic nails on someone else. The lady she is doing nails on asks her the price and she says a number and she responds that is not what she charged last time. So she launches into a whole speech about how she had to soak a nail off and do repairs. The lady is half done so what is she going to do? She is obviously annoyed.

I was on holiday and decided have the keratin straightening treatment done here. Very friend,y and good results. I would definitely have it done again when I am on Ixtapa. Thanks, ?Rosemarie

I had a very unfortunate visit here for a keratin treatment. I have one every four months at various salons worldwide and have never had a problem, but here not only was the service bad, but they damaged my hair beyond repair. The hairdresser never took a moment to examine my hair before she started; she sent me straight to wash and then put in the treatment and walked away to have her nails worked on while the timer ran out. She paid very little attention or care after that, burned my forehead worth the flat iron and burned my hair to a horrifying level of damage. I tried to get a refund but they just kept insisting they could fix it or give me my money back, but in the end they just gave me a gift certificate instead because they said it was only the front of my hair that was damaged. Yes, only the entire front of my hair, the important part surrounding my face, from root to tip, now has the texture of a sponge and I had to cut off my chin length hair into 2 inch bangs (which still looks frizzy and damaged!). I will obviously never use this gift certificate because I could never trust them to touch my hair again, plus I’m out $75 usd and three days of my life visiting this terrible location trying to get my hair fixed or a refund, neither of which I received.
