El templo de este lugar estaba dedicado a San Miguel Arcángel, nombre que se le dio al pueblo: San Miguel de Temascalcingo. Cabe mencionar que la imagen más venerada ha sido El Señor de la Coronación, a la que se efectúan en su honor grandes festividades. En 1680 el párroco Andrés Guiles Galindo recibe autorización para edificar la iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel en el pueblo. En los primeros años del siglo XX, entre 1900 y 1905, Temascalcingo contaba contaba con un templo de dimensiones pequeñas, construido con adobe, madera y teja, insuficiente para dar cabida a los feligreses de ese tiempo, estaba ubicado dicho templo en el mismo lugar de la actual parroquia. Cuenta con rampa de acceso para personas con silla de ruedas ??
