It is a beautiful place, the waterfall is super beautiful. If you arrive early you have to go alone, in the afternoon there are already more people. They let pets in ☺️

The view from the path to the waterfall is beautiful, you connect with nature; You go down to the waterfall (cold water ❄️) along a path with steps (not suitable for grandparents), there are guides (young people / residents of Apoala) who take you and wait for safety until you decide to return to the entrance.

Incredible waterfalls. Please be respectful when visiting them, as the locals believe this to be a very sacred place... Ask a guide for details about the importance of the waterfall and where the water comes from before bathing here... It will definitely make your experience more worthwhile and you may be able to honour the waterfall and the locals belief on a deeper level ?

About a 2.5 hour drive from Oaxaca but we'll worth it! The group of us rented a car in order to make the trip to the waterfall. The main road to the town was closed for roadworks and the route we followed on Google maps took us through roads nearly impossible to use without a 4x4 and through remote villages. We ended up driving 3.5 hours to get there however it was very interesting to drive the extra hour and see what probably only a few people see. The waterfall itself was beautiful even though we didn't have the best weather! Plus we were the only ones there. You need to pay a small administration fee of 50 pesos per person at the tourist office for access to the falls. If you walk 5 minutes further downhill from the waterfall itself you get to a small lagoon which if great to take a dip in (if cold water does not put you off). There is more to see that just the waterfall but we had to leave to avoid driving the rough roads in the dark.

Awesome waterfall an amazing motorcycle ride to get there from the pave roads. There's also a few echo tourism places you can stay in the little town next to here but they are 480 pesos a night and have incredibly slow Wi-Fi. Highly recommend for a day trip from Oaxaca! Especially if on an adventure motorcycle
