Existen evidencias de asentamientos que datan a la época Cruz tardía (700-300 a.C.). Aproximadamente tres siglos después, en Yolomécatl se construyeron sitios grandes en los cerros Yucuniñi, al norte del pueblo y el cuate al sur del pueblo. En el cerro Yucuniñi vivieron de 350 a 810 personas y en el cerro Cuate 790 a 1575 habitantes. Estos sitios tienen algunos montículos y terrazas, en donde se vivía y se cultivaba.
Santiago Yolomécatl (in Nahuatl: yolomecatl, place of two hearts) is a municipality of 2,090 inhabitants located in the District of Teposcolula, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
There is evidence of settlement dating to the Late Cross period (700-300 BC). Approximately three centuries later, large sites were built in Yolomécatl on the Yucuniñi hills, north of the town, and the cuate hills, south of the town. On the Yucuniñi hill lived from 350 to 810 people and on the Cuate hill 790 to 1575 inhabitants. These sites have some mounds and terraces, where people lived and grew crops.
