Santo Domingo Cacalotepec es una comunidad que produce gran parte de sus alimentos, cuentan con un gradiente altitudinal enorme que les permite realizar diversos tipos de cultivos entre los que destacan la producción de café, caña de azúcar y plátano. Ademas de sembrar su milpa y conservar sus bosques de pino, liquidámbar y encino, uno de| sus recientes proyectos es el fomento del ecoturismo en la región.
Mi visita fue para impulsar un proyecto de apicultura que se desarrolla gracias a la iniciativa de emprendedores que buscan el manejo orgánico tanto en la producción de miel así como la del café y en general de la zona.
Muy pronto estaremos ofreciendo la opción del turismo de la miel o apiturismo la cual consiste en un sendero interpretátivo que culmine con la visita a un apiario. Esta oportunidad de conocer mas a fondo a las abejas se esta desarrollando en esta comunidad y muy pronto alcanzará un gran impacto en la ecología del lugar. Cabe mencionar que en esta comunidad se habla la lengua zapoteca y su templo perteneció a la orden de los dominícos.

My visit was to promote a beekeeping project that is developed thanks to the initiative of entrepreneurs who seek organic management both in the production of honey as well as coffee and in general in the area.
Very soon we will be offering the option of honey tourism or apitourism which consists of an interpretive path that culminates with the visit to an apiary. This opportunity to learn more about bees is developing in this community and will soon have a great impact on the ecology of the place. It is worth mentioning that in this community the Zapotec language is spoken and its temple belonged to the Dominican order.
