A	Alma Espinoza on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 12:12 pm Entramos a la Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Tonatico, una bella construcción, resaltan las decoraciones en oro sobre las columnas azul cielo, el piso brillante, un gran atrio, externamente muy discreta, una jacaranda que me encantó, luce impecáble, al interior bellísima con pasajes históricos religiosos, a 5km de Ixtapan de La Sal. El Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Tonatico tiene una gran importancia religiosa, edificado en el año 1660 con una planta en cruz latina con cúpula sencilla y dos torres del más puro estilo neoclásico, este templo es una joya arquitectónica de la región. Durante las festividades se llegan a recibir a más de un millón de personas. Cabe señalar que la imagen es tan venerada que se le atribuyen todo tipo de milagros y su historia remonta desde los orígenes del “Pueblo Viejo de Tonatico”; un lugar donde se erguía otro templo edificado en el siglo XVI y que fue devorado por el fuego. El pueblo fue erigido Vicaria fija el 8 de julio de 1878. El 30 de enero de 1882, se terminan las bóvedas del templo, que antes estaba tejado. Fue elevado al rango de Parroquia el 30 de marzo de 1921. El 2 de febrero de 1929 se bendice e inaugura el reloj público que se encuentra entre las torres del Santuario y el 25 de marzo de 1968 el edificio es declarado Santuario.
