★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were hoping to meet manatees but instead we only met Eladio who is the most enthusiastic guide you will ever meet. So this sanctuary is for the care of animals and is not a zoo, therefore encounter with the manatees is only by luck. What you will get instead is the most thorough explanation (in Spanish) of a research group that has been studying manatees for 14 years and helping them return to nature. My wife who is a biologist admired the job that they have done. If you visit please ask about the little stray dog that came in November and had mange. His name is Callejero. Send our greetings.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It looked like it would have been a fun place to see a manatee! We drove about to the place and no one was around. Sad for me as I was on a pilgrimage to see a manatee while in Mexico. With no hours or phones number on the Google page, we couldn't make sure before the drive that someone was there. So it was our own risk.
