About Santuario tortuguero El Verde Camacho
Our tour company works in conjunction with the Verde-Camacho Turtle Sanctuary, which was founded in 1975 with the goal of protecting the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle who lays its eggs on the Northern beaches of Mazatlán, México.
Thanks to the efforts of the National Commission of Naturally Protected Areas (NCNPA) along with the participation of neighboring villages, you can enjoy a government-certified natural reserve with priority given to clean shoreline conservation.
The NCNPA has provided a program for individuals in surrounding villages to receive specialized training in order to preserve the beaches in this naturally-protected area. This program helps these villages to be self sufficient and environmentally aware, enabling them to be more than capable to look after the needs of this area. The assistance of these ones is invaluable.
By participating in a tour with us, you are not only helping baby sea turtles return to their natural habitat, but you are also supporting and sustaining the work done by these local people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is amazing, and the people here are incredible. The beach is pristine and the mangrove area is incredible as well. The boat tour is fun and informative. They take you through a couple of mangrove tunnels or canopies, and there are tons of animals to see. Even without seeing animals the boat tour would be amazing. It was peaceful and quiet.
The highlight of the tour we took was releasing the newly hatched turtles into the ocean. This was amazing, and by far the best thing I have done on a vacation to date. I liked that the tour group was very small.
They feed us a small breakfast with the tour of the facility. The food was fresh and delicious. If you get a chance schedule a tour and stop in.

Mazatlan Turtle Tours works with the turtle sanctuary and they did a thorough job explaining the dangers to the sea turtles and how the sanctuary works. Gorgeous place and it's also an educational facility for those wanting to preserve the wildlife. Highly recommend if you have a chance to book a tour
