The service of this place is amazing, the manager Luis Diaz goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is great, my server Modesta De la Cruz was great, very attentive and amazing manners, would recommend this place to anyone. The menu also had a lot of options

The hibachi grill section was poorly executed. The sushi…seafood was fresh but you can tell the rolls are not being made by sushi chefs…the rolls were 90% rice with only scant amounts of fish. Customer service was average specifically I found the hostess/host staff quite rude. This was my least favorite restaurant at the Barcelo resort.

We visited the resort in October 2020 and dined here twice! It was absolutely amazing experience and a delicious dinner!

Sapporo was probably my favorite restaurant of the Barceló Riviera Maya Resort, Paloma was the best host for us, the chefs do all the magic, try the Tepanyaki, and miso soup

This restaurant requires guest making reservation at Guest Services prior to dining in. This was my first dinner while staying in this hotel. Receptionist's service was so so. She seated us in a corner of an empty table, and I requested to sit in the middle. Her reason for seating me at the corner of the table is because other seats were reserved. I told her that I also made a reservation. She later switched me to the middle of the table. Server and chef asked us about food allergies multiple times to ensure safety. The chef did a good job by having a good cooking show! He is very friendly, and has a great sense of humor. Our meal included appetizers, soup or salad, main course, and dessert. I ordered sliced octopus, totoaba sashimi, seared tuna salad, surf and turf (filet mignon and lobster), fried ice-cream, and reef hazelnut mousse. The meal came with mix vegetables and fried rice. I dislike the sliced octopus and the lobster was slightly overcooked. Other than that all the food tasted very good! The filet mignon was tender, and the mix vegetables were well seasoned. It was a great experience even though the seating was not perfect. The chef's wonderful skills made up everything. P.S. bottle wine and beer are not included, and will cost extra. However, mix drinks are free of charge upon request.

Overall the restaurant offers good food, we had good experience sitting at the hibachi table. The chef cooked a really nice surf and turf right in front of us. Sushi was good. The only dissatisfactions were: we had to choose between a starter, sushi (4 pieces), nigiri and sashimi. Also, there weren't any chopsticks, they expected us to eat sushi with a fork and knife ?, but happily provided them upon request. Just strange that we had to request chopsticks at a Japanese restaurant. And the menu wasn't explained by the chef ( sushi ingridients weren't listed in the menu ), so it was slightly confusing. Same with drink offerings, no one informed us about the options. I'm sure that it would be different for spanish speaking folks ?

All dining restaurants at Barceló Maya Riviera AO will need a reservation, we advise everyone to book your reservation for every night you will be at the resort on the day you arrive. It is very important. You can also dinne at all the other restaurants on the other 5 hotels which will need reservation done right away the day you arrive as well. The 2 story bus will quickly and easily take you to the other hotels. Sapporo - Nikkei Experience needs to be asked for at the time of booking a reservation or you will end up in the normal restaurant (which is very good as well, but it's not the Nikkei Experience). Our Nikkei Experience was so good that we went a 2nd time. 1st time, dinner was cooked by Chef Carlos, uhah! uhah! Very special thanks to Chef Carlos and serving team and Chef Luis from la Dolce Vita. We received ??? treatment. 2nd time, dinner was cooked by Chef Edgar, uhah, uhah, hi ha! Very special thanks to Chef Edgar and serving team and Chef Luis from la Dolce Vita who dleivered the pizza himself to our son Bradley?. We were treated like ???. Barceló, please direct our very special Thanks to all your serving staff at all the restaurants. Special Thanks to Chef Carlos and Chef Edgar. Appreciated

All the specialty restaurants at Barcelo Maya Riviera are amazing. That being said, if you'd like to elevate your experience a notch higher, check out the hibachi experience at Sapporo. Delicious food combined with the chef display will definitely guarantee a memorable dining moment.
