Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun - 77710 Playa del Carmen

Positive: Beach is beautiful. Staff is great. Clean resort. Food is hit or miss. Negative: Food is hit or miss. Seafood is much better than any meat. Wish they had better wine options included with all inclusive rate. Also wish the pool music was more relaxing with not as much club or pop music.

We just finished a 5 night stay here. The resort is beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and views are spectacular. However, there is room for improvement. First, they seem to lack chairs for all guests. You need to get down and reserve pool/beach chairs around 7:00 AM if you want any good chair for the day. Even at 8:00AM, people had placed towels on all pool chairs already. The beach area is great, but again, get there early for any chance at a good chair. The food was good. We were able to try most of the restaurants and can say the food was good in all of them. However, their no reservation necessary policy needs to change. 1 night we were seated right away. The other 3 nights, we were told 30-40 minute wait. Each of those times we walked to the lobby bar for a drink while we waited for our buzzer to light up. The first night, after waiting an hour, we walked back to restaurant to check and they said “oh we buzzed you like a half hour ago, maybe you were out of range” No, we were at the lobby bar which you told us to go wait at until the table was ready. The second time we waited, it buzzed after 20 minutes or so as we were in the same lobby bar. The last night, we had to go check with hostess after 45 minutes and once again were told, we buzzed you 20 minutes ago and we were probably out of range. That’s absurd. Overall, resort staff was amazing. Our building’s concierge Miguel was phenomenal. There were a few bad eggs who didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. Our last night there, dinner felt rushed. We were seated very late because of the buzzer issue, and the waiter was not pleased. He rushed us to order. Then he was rude when he had to bring back a drink that was just awful and not consistent with what we just had in lobby. He was also rude when the steak we asked for rare, came out well done, and we made them redo it. It was obvious there were just trying to get us out of there. I don’t know if I would stay here again. Yes, the resort is beautiful. Great pool and beach and good food for an all inclusive. However, I don’t want to be getting up at the crack of dawn on vacation to go try to reserve a chair for the day. I don’t think being told no reservations ever needed, then having to wait for a table makes any sense. Especially when they tell you that it was your fault you had to wait so long since you were out of range (in their lobby!).

Had a good trip. I wish they had more morning activities. We like to do something fun before hitting the beach/pool everyday and I don't do yoga, so the only option was a bike ride. It was fine, but we can't do the same bike ride every morning. The need to add Tito's or a non-wheat vodka to the regular menu. The wind and seaweed were crazy during our trip so the beach wasn't very fun (and it was brown), but that's not their fault. Good food, good shows at night, nice rooms, overall good trip but they could definitely step it up a notch.

Beautiful resort, beach was amazing, staff are all incredible, food was great. While I was mostly satisfied with the room, the shower did smell like sewage when you turned on the water and there were many ants in the bathroom...the thing that bothered me most was how we were denied the ability to continue playing water volleyball amongst ourselves after the 30-min volleyball activity. The staff would remove the nets and not let us play, which I found annoying because many of us found that to be our favorite activity and to have that taken away from us on OUR vacation did not sit well with me. We shouldn't have to beg to play water volleyball or have it taken away from us on a beach resort...I feel like that should be an available activity all the time....but overall I had a 4.5/5 star experience. The best part is the wonderful staff they have.

Positive: Best part of the property is the staff. All of them were amazing. Best service I have ever had. We hung out at different places by the pool each day so our servers. All of them went beyond what I expected. Negative: The room service app in the room didn't seem to work. Tried twice and never got service. Also, they have some interesting little critters running around all over the resort property.

We spent 7 nights in December ‘21 for our honeymoon. We were blown away with this resort!! The grounds are immaculate, huge variety of delicious food and drinks, the beach is beautiful, and the service was amazing! We did not encounter a single staff member who did not greet us with a smile. We especially enjoyed the preferred lounge for pre-dinner drinks and all the activities to do! My husband doesn’t love laying on the beach all day (as much as I do), so we were glad to have other activities such as the kayak tour, mini golf, paint and pint class, and the special events. We’d go back in a heartbeat! We’re pregnant now and would love to do our baby moon here.

My husband and I just returned from a 6 night stay at Secrets Maroma, and we both can’t quit talking about how exceptional it was. Everything was perfect. We have vacationed at other all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, and this one by far exceeds all of them. Everything, from check in to check out, was exceptional. The room was pristine with turn down service every day. The beach was the best beach we’ve ever been on. The people! The staff all were so incredible. So kind and went above and beyond for us- especially our concierge. And the food and drinks were the best we’ve had at any resort and some of the best food we’ve ever had period. And they had non-stop entertainment, from games to dance lessons to nightly shows. Seriously- if you’re thinking of going on a Mexican vacation, look no further. Secrets is the only resort we will go to in the future. We can’t wait to go back!

Stayed here this past weekend for a friends wedding and it was beautiful!! The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating. We were greeted with hand sanitizer and champagne. Very clean resort. The food and drinks were good especially the mango and watermelon margaritas. The pool was also great. We didn’t go to the beach unfortunately because the water was very murky and filled with seaweed. Would definitely recommend this brand of resorts and will look at the other locations for future vacations.
