★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the few honest rental car companies in Mexico! After trying Hertz, Mexcar, Budget and others, this was the only one that would actually honor the advertised online rate without trying to scam me with extra “mandatory” insurance. Booked online (Holidayautos) and the exact car I booked was ready when I arrived an hour later, service was quick and easy (no up-sells!), car was in good condition. Great experience, no complaints.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're like I was looking for a car to rent in Mexico City, it's a bit daunting. I constantly came across horror stories about their rental companies overcharging them, charging them for damages they didn't commit, forcing them to buy their CDW insurance, etc. Out of all the reviews I read, it seemed like Sixt was the best option, and I have to say they did not disappoint. We got the car for a very reasonable and affordable rate. The car was relatively new and in great condition (a number of cosmetic scratches but they evaluated the car's damage with us present as they recorded the damage). The car also came with a full tank of gas, which was great and not something I've heard other companies at MEX do. The car came with unlimited miles and the third party insurance, and they allowed us to use our credit card's insurance without even the slightest pushback. They did put a 20000 peso hold on our card, but from what I've seen that's pretty normal. Just make sure you have enough on your credit card to sustain that. When we returned the car, they did their evaluation and released the hold and sent us on our merry way (total time to drop off the car probably took 15 minutes total). Overall a great experience and the car was great - definitely made the travel around Mexico way less stressful. If you're like me who was really struggling to find a rental company that seemed reliable and "not-sketchy", I would highly recommend Sixt. They were straight-forward and gave us a great car at a great price that allowed us to have the most amazing trip in Mexico.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst experience ever , I would not advise to rent from SIXT. We travel extensively. They made sure to find thing to say that the car was damaged. They took forever to give us a car then they said they had to switch cars. The gentlemen gave us the worse customer experience, sitting there watching a video and laughing while the other one was filing a accident report. They ask for extra insurance and find damage on a car that is already damaged.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shocking experience with Sixt. Firstly, our car was an old Chevy Aveo with over 100000km on it. The car was covered in damage when we rented (it looked like it had had a bat taken to it). When we returned, the hubcap was mysteriously missing. They suggested that someone must’ve stolen it (what?) and then said we’d have to pay. I told them that it was just as likely that it hadn’t been installed properly or it had suffered so much damage from previous renters that it’d fallen off. The manager Julian was a quiet little creep who said nothing other than the price ($800 pesos, which turned into $1200 pesos with tax) and that I would have to pay. He didn’t acknowledge the possibility that they were responsible.
I would also like to say the deposit is very high and I’m concerned it will take longer to receive than the 3 days they said it would (see other reviews). Live and learn! Don’t rent from Sixt. I’ve had good experiences with Hertz in Mexico. Cc

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Paid for premium car and the only one available was in poor mechanical and cosmetic condition. I’ve used Sixt in Europe and US, but it’s not the same standard in Mexico. I also received the SUV with 1/4 fuel tank and the windshield was cracked which beyond a cosmetic condition it is a safety hazard.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the company from which I rented a car for the first and probably the last time.
Got a car with worn brake pads. I informed company about the situation, so they offered me to return the car and take the another one. I asked them, if they can drive that another car to me, to switch them, but this didn’t happen. I had to drive back 200km with not properly working brakes to change the car. For this reason, my vacation plan collapsed.
When I wrote the claim for compensation, I didn’t get any reaction.
The deposit of 1150€ is inadequately high which is said to be returned within 24 hours. In fact, they returned it only after 6 days.
The experience is not the best one. There are many rental companies and I will not be this company’s client anymore.
