★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This long-standing weaving cooperative showcases the very finest textiles created in Chiapas. The prices reflect the quality.
The various items provide a good introduction to the specific characteristics of different Pueblo's styles and it's totally fitting that the showroom is just outside the textile museum, as it feels like an extension of the museum exhibits. A visit here helps one to understand the massive number of hours that go into producing a quality weaving, and the weavers receive just payment.
The crafts market that surrounds the Museum and shop is over flowing with mass produced weaving that probably puts food on many tables, but does little to reflect the artistry of Maya weaving.
