We were staying in Puerto Vallarta for the first three weeks of November 2021. I play guitar and wanted to buy a decent relatively inexpensive acoustic guitar to play while I was in town. I searched online for the best guitar store in PV and Sonido Rana kept coming up. So I made my way to the store. Now, I don’t expect to find the same selection as a store back home, but I was really disappointed. First, there were no new guitars - only used ones, and completely covered in dirt/dust. Yikes. There were only about 6-7 guitars in total that were in one piece. To give you some price comparisons, there were two Gibson Les Paul guitars which were priced at about $3,400 US. I could buy a new Les Paul back home for that price, but these two were used and covered in dirt/dust. To top it off, the 2-3 other people in the store (who clearly worked there or were friends of the 1 or 2 who worked there) didn’t acknowledge my presence or ask if they could help, despite my wandering the very small store for about 15 minutes. I would have asked for some help but didn’t see anything that was worth paying for…so I didn’t ask and eventually just left. I’m not sure how this store has received any positive comments about the instruments or service.
