Soriana Híper Chapala - 45900 Chapala

Excellent selection of food, deli and household goods, including appliances and electronics. I was pleasantly surprised by the vast selection of name brand good. Soriana puts Wal-Mart to shame and is a lot cheaper. If you are a visitor to Mexico or Expat looking to save additional money, you must visit Sorianas Hiper.

They have a wide variety of products, even more than Walmart. They have a card you sign up for to get points. Twice a year you get it exchanged for cash towards your purchase. Their staff is generally helpful.

Good prices they are mostly cheaper than the local Wal-Mart they Are much like a small Wal-Mart. Grocery. Deli. Pharmacy, Hardware. Appliances. Electronics, Clothing. Even motorcycles. The staff has pretty much always been helpful. I have only had one issue and it was in returning a fan that quit working. They advertise 1 year guarantee but what you don't or really can't know is you can only return an item within 30 days where you bought it after that you have to ship the item off. I say can't know because on the outside signage boasts the 1 year guarantee but inside the package is a piece of paper that explains further about the 30 day store return and one other bother. Their shopping bags are absolutely terrible. I couldn't tell you how many times a 2 litre coke has ripped out of the bag before even making it to the car. The baggers themselves are very nice people but when bagging in my case has been pretty bad. I don't think over ever made it home without having squished items. I try to pay attention when they are bagging but I spend more attention making sure the pricing is correct. I started tracking that a few months ago and There has not been one instance where everything rang up what price is displayed and amazingly in all that time it's never been in the shoppers favor.

Only slightly better than Walmart about not having aisles blocked with merchandise being stocked. At least stockers are courteous, notice you, & move stuff for you. NEVER enough checkers, no matter the day or hour. No excuse for having to wait in line with 18-20 people all with fully loaded baskets!

Great grocery store, has the usual departments, bakery, meat, pharmacy, deli, housewares, also appliances.

If you're a tourist shopping and paying with your credit or debit card DON'T SHOP HERE! Their system is not updated for international banks.

Staff are so much better than Walmart but unfortunately the pricing at Soriana's is a bit deceitful. Because of the consistent price discrepancies I will not shop here as often as I would like.

I was pleased with the selection of products, but found many of the prices were higher than Walmart in Ajijic. If looking for specialty products, it's very good, but don't expect to save money on your shopping bill.
