Sotavento Isla - Garrafon de Castilla

We had a lovely time at Sotavento Isla. Our accommodations were clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The view took our breath away and we found it hard to leave the comfort and serenity of our condo, patio, and pool, though, fortunately, much of what we opted to do or needed was close at hand (short walking distance), including the intimate beach club at Garrafón, the trails we ran and hiked from Punta Sur, the mini-market and taco stand, and The Joint. When we wanted to explore other parts of the island, we hopped in our cart and tooled around but we were always so happy to return to our beautiful home base. Our host Héctor was responsive and thoughtful throughout; he made arrangements for transportation to and from the airport, our golf cart rental, and our pre-return flight Covid tests, all of which were seamless. Sotavento Isla was the ideal place for experiencing Isla Mujeres. We missed it from the moment we left.

What an amazing stay on Isla and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the hosts or the service at Sotavento. We had a massive screw-up in June when we had initially planned on traveling to Isla. En route to the airport we realized our daughters’ passports had expired!! After a frantic phone call the hosts said not to worry and, even though it was 1 day before our 7 night stay, she said she would just credit us for any other 7 nights that we could come. Unbelievable! We have just spent a beautiful week here enjoying snorkeling, swimming, great food, and the most idyllic location. We WILL be back!!

We absolutely loved the SERVICE, from arranging transportation from the airport, to and from the ferry and having a golf cart waiting for us….Hector was GREAT to say the least! The penthouse condo was amazing! So clean and comfortable…the roof top pool was an oasis of its own! The only disappointing thing, was leaving! Thank you all for a great experience! We WILL BE BACK! Amazing amazing stay. Cannot say enough good things about it. View is amazing. Location is quiet. Owners are responsive. Management is on top of it all. Our condo came full of everything we needed and even helpful extras like sunscreen, laundry with soap, towels for the beach. Not a drawback in sight. Great place for anyone.

This condo is a beautiful property on a magical island in a wonderful location. The view of the amazing turquoise ocean from the patio is spectacular. We had coffee there every morning and watched the sunset there every evening. The pool is wonderful and the condo property is a great place to meet lots of other travelers. Everyone is so nice. The property is beautifully maintained and the property manager, Hector, was extremely helpful. The owners were a pleasure to work with and responded very quickly to every question or request. We would definitely highly recommend staying at this property.

Well if this wasn’t the most perfect location to stay to make us fall in love with Mexico our first time here then I don’t know what is! You cannot beat the rooftop infinity pool, views, food, ease of getting around the island in the golf cart, the beaches, that incredibly blue water and Hector! God bless Hector! So accommodating, nice, professional and quick to help. Thank you for the best 10 year anniversary trip (kid-free!) Also, don’t be like us and read the recommendations that people wrote in the book that’s in the condo on the last day. So are so many great tips from people in there that we wished we would have known…but we will for next time!

I took a trip to Isla with my boyfriend recently at stayed at Sotavento Isla. I can not sum up into words how amazing this trip was. It all began with our accommodations, we walked into paradise. The area was bright, clean and well decorated. Comfortable living space, nice full kitchen and dining to enjoy meals at home if we wanted. Bedroom and bathroom had plenty of space to unpack so we were not living out of a suitcase! Patio was equip with a nice table to sit and enjoy morning coffee or we played cards at night! The unit is very close to a beautiful scenic stop just up the road. There is a restaurant that has live music just up the road as well, its perfectly loud enough to listen to when you are hanging out around the pool! I would absolutely recommend this space to any couple traveling to Isla, it has everything you need and more.

A wonderful rental but keep in mind it is on the end of the island, this works both ways because you are far from the excitement yet it's quiet. Next door is a fantastic restaurant with live music and tasty margaritas. Also there is a terrific snorkeling place on the next street, snorkel, lay in the sun - a perfect way to spend the day or enjoy the condo pool. We had to call for a taxi on the last day to catch the boat, the owner had everything written down with phone numbers and the gentleman that showed up was on time and so nice. Would love to come back.
