The experience started off good. I was given one price. And had 3 sessions done, no problem. Then all of a sudden, while I'm in the middle of session 4, not only am I being asked to pay WHILE I'm still being tattooed. Not only that, the price was magicallly different. Although I had booked session 4 about 2 weeks in advance, they decide to tell me a new higher price. Then entire staff hovered around me for about 5-7 minutes discussing the issue (thry created), making me feel INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. Here I am, hour 5 of session number 4, I'm sitting in the chair being tattooed, then all of a sudden I have the owner's wife, the owner, my artist, and another artist all standing me talking around me as though I'm not there. Highly unprofessional. After that, I started packing up my things to leave then I'm told, 'no problem' 'no problem' several times. And all I am thinking is 'yeah, there was no problem until the owner's wife came over to me WHILE I'm being tattooed not only asking for money, but asking for more money than I had been paying. It was 530pm, they don't close until 8pm. So it's not like I was in the shop after hours. Very unprofessional. Like shockingly unprofessional. Again, it was my 4th time there, so I don't know what the hell was going on or why the entire vibe of the shop got wierd and awkward Up to this point, 20 hours or tattooing with Danny, we had no problems at all. Apparently the artist forgot to tell me that my 4th was to cost more for whatever reason I didn't fully understand. Fine. But again, I book my appointment FOURTH appointment 2 weeks in advance and NOW you tell me when I'm on the chair being worked on that it cost more. Like who does that!? How is that even remotely professional? Bad business for sure. I still can't get over being asked to pay WHILE I'm being tattooed. Never I'm my life have I had the happen for a tattoo or any other service. Did the artist Danny apologize for the incredibly awkward situation he put me in because of his poor communication? No. He just shut down and got weird. The last 30 minute ls of tattooing was incredibly awkward. And then to top it all off, when he was finished, he didn't say anything. He didn't even have to common courtesy to wrap up the tattoo when he was done, like he had done in the other 3 sessions. I had to ask him to. This place get high marks for quality of work, but low marks for communication, accountability when making a mistake, and overall poor customer service and professionalism. Then I reluctantnty sent a message to Danny to ask what the EXACT price for the next session would be if I returned, because again, he's a good artist, but the communication was poor. He never replied....until I sent another message calling out the lack of professionalism, and disrespect of not even being able to reply after all of the stress and irritation he put me through the day before. Then all of a sudden he replies, unfortunately I'm over it, over Danny, over Gold Balam as a whole. Started off a great experience, ended on a weird, sad, unprofessional and awkward note, all because of the overall poor communication. Make sure you ask about the cost before EACH session, apparently the price fluctuates after the 3rd session. Now I have an 3/4 of the way unfinished coverup that I have to get completed elsewhere, and from what I've heard, most artist don't like completing other artist's work. So the lack of professionalism and poor communication at this place has really put me in an awkward and time consuming spot of having to find an artist to complete my coverup.

Gooty and Rubi run a quality establishment! A talented crew of artists, killer hip hop Mexicano all day long and a convenient location surrounded by shops and restaurants all make this a great place to get inked when visiting the Peninsula!
