Sunset Studio Apartments - 97000 Centro

The problem with ripping tenants off, is eventually someone will post an honest review, and for every five reviews on this page, only one of them is real. While I was a tenant there these were only SOME of my experiences: -plumbing issues in both kitchen and bathroom, electrical not properly grounded, and roof leaking issues, leaky air conditioner, everything is made of the cheapest possible materials so things were constantly breaking -owner wouldn't fix things unless it would that cost them more money in the long run, example cheap overused microwave was broken for 9 months, was told weekly it would be fixed never did then charged me for when I left, broken cupboards - broken when I moved in, broken when I moved out - told regularly it would be fixed, asked multiple times for the roaches spreading from other units to be addressed, the large gaps under the door make it easy for them to travel from one apartment to another -there is a pool onsite but many times is was too dirty to use -no regard for CoVid regulations, rented to full capacity, with a high turn over of international travelers arriving daily -I had over 17 different neighbors beside me, or below me, while I was there you never knew what your going to have to deal with -they entered another tenants unit without permission to “clean it” and went through neighbors personal belongings -owners will tell you that it’s a quiet building for working professionals then the next group that’s it a family vacation resort, basically it is whatever is going to make them money that day, and they let people do whatever they want including loud parties till 4am, children screaming up till midnight -when I left for two weeks to see family, and when I came back everything I owned stunk like cigarette smoke in a non smoking building because they decided to open all my windows while I was away and let the let the tenant below me smoke downstairs -each unit uses a cheap interior door as an exterior door so you can literally hear every detail of your neighbors lives, there is no privacy whatsoever -illegally and unethically held several neighbors deposits, including my own ($10,500 pesos), when I asked for an account of what “damage” this was covering, they wouldn't provide an one and made up stories about replacing things I didn’t use and that weren’t damaged, or were in that condition before I arrived. I was warned ahead of time by more than one neighbor about this, but I didn’t believe it because they act so nice to your face before they rip you off. If you decide to stay there photograph, video record, audio record EVERYTHING. - tenants are demonized and discredited once they are no longer considered useful or profitable, anyone who shares legitimate negative experiences they try to discredit by denying facts, or saying they ‘have problems’, they are “crazy”, or “negative”, rather than addressing the issues -90% of tourists and 10% long term tenants, most long term tenants were treated like second class citizens -many of the five star reviews here are fake written by friends, family members, or the owners themselves. -reached out to the owners to find fair and reasonable resolution but they were not interested.

I am a tenant here going on 30 months and couldn’t be any happier with everything. Gabe & Veronica go out of their way to accommodate each guest. However, a few, or the one, expect to be treated like royalty demanding constant attention (Harley). Occupancy is always high at this location for a reason.

The property and the room is well- maintained, clean, cozy, and modern. This place is few steps to banks, restaurants, bakeries, groceries, etc. Veronica and Gabriel are very warm and light. I can feel they genuinely care about the tenants' experience in their property so they try to do their best. I don't think I'd even try to look for another place when I'm back in Mérida.

We loved our 2-month stay! The apartments are well maintained and comfortable. Veronica and Gabriel's care for their property is evident in the small details. The kitchen is well equipped with great pots and pans making cooking from home easy! The internet is fast, furniture is well made, appliances are top-quality, and linens are soft. The entire property is clean and cozy. Highly recommended!

I love Sunset Studios! I have stayed there for two months for the past two years. I can only say good things about this place. It is exactly what I needed to be comfortable, safe and close to everything . The apartments are well-supplied with what you need for long-term stays. The bed is comfortable, there is plenty of storage and places to relax, both inside and outside. Wifi and t.v. service are excellent. The place is perfectly clean and everything works well. The pool is kept crystal clear and is a nice size for getting some exercise. Gabriel and Veronica are wonderful hosts. They are always available for any questions that a person might have. They are on the property most days and take care of everything. They are also friendly and fun, giving their guests privacy while providing amiable interaction. I highly recommend this lovely place. The location is very convenient for walking to everything, or for grabbing a taxi or bus. I will definitely stay here again. Thank you, Gabriel and Veronica, for taking such good care of me.

My wife and I spent the last five months at Veronica's and Gabriel's property and we have nothing but positive things to say about Sunsets cozy and welcoming environment. Any issue or question was resolved very promptly and they would always check in with us to see if everything was okay. Veronica even actually picked us up at our old apartment because we had difficulty getting a cab to move in to their place. I can only imagine any negative reviews would have to be from sad disgruntled individuals that spend their lives looking for evidence that rainbows cause global warming and Mother Teresa had a secret Swiss Bank account.

This is the first time ever I have spent any duration in a studio apartment. After having rented a house in lovely Merida for several years and a roomy apartment in Canada, I must admit I was quite leery and concerned about living in such a small space, but it turned out I was very pleased with and surprised by it. Veronica and Gabriel were wonderful hosts who did whatever they could to accommodate and assist me. The unit was spotlessly clean and quiet. I found the neighbours in other units to be most pleasant including Cleopatra, the in-house all-white cat who was so sweet and friendly. The only negative was the noise of the construction going on next door which could not be helped but in my opinion was not so bad. The studio apartments are centrally located so it is easy to get around by walking, bus or taxi. Owners and renters of private cars will have to take their chances with street parking. I am planning on staying at Sunset Studio Apartments next season.
