SWIM FREEDIVE COZUMEL - 77600 San Miguel de Cozumel

Short Version: An absolutely perfect experience with world class instructors meeting you with abundant expertise, experience, love, patience and understanding. The perfect place for our PADI freediver certification course. Long Version: I’m a mountain man in two senses of the word: 1) I grew up in the mountains far away from the ocean. Growing up I loved wide open spaces and I was terrified of deep waters. 2) Apparently I have the body density of a rock and I sink like one. In elementary school, I was the very last kid to learn to swim after a girl who had only one arm... No, that’s not a joke - that’s really how bad of a swimmer I was :) Naturally, I was anxious when my dolphin-like wife asked me to take a freediving course with her. However, my fears gradually dissipated when I discovered that I was to be taken care of by two freediving instructors that far exceeded my expectations. Jewels (Julie) and Rolando are incredibly experienced and knowledgable freedivers and taught me all the skills and information I needed to stay safe in the water. The dry training and learning we did before we entered the open waters made me very well prepared for the real deal. More importantly though, they could not have been more patient, understanding and loving. There was never any shred of judgment or frustration in their responses to my questions and concerns. On the contrary, they always encouraged me to go at my own pace and not push myself, and they did so with a loving and calming presence. The day before we met I tried holding my breath in bed and just barely made it to 50 seconds after several tries. The next night I held my breath for 3 minutes. Before we went to Cozumel I was feeling excited, but also very anxious. However, I left Cozumel feeling like a dolphin thanks to the wonderful, kind and loving Jewels and Rolando. I’ll always be grateful to them for showing me how to become one with the underwater world :)
