★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the best taco I’ve ever eaten in my life. I grew up eating tacos on the border of Mexico, and I can’t remember having any like this.
The pork is crispy on the outside and super flavorful, with a nice spiciness and just enough salt. The tortilla is made fresh—so delicious. The onions are sautéed then placed under the dripping pork, adding even more flavor. Everything comes together and is well balanced, no one flavor overpowers the others. It’s served with a red picante salsa, which isn't overly spicy. I put their house salsa verde on top, it's nice and cool with a tangy flavor. Top it off with a squeeze of lime and you’ve got the best taco ever. Oh, and it’s $1. I had five tacos, but could have easily eaten ten. Will dream of this taco ... until next time!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Although El Huequito now have a handful of locations across the city, I’ve found the other locations to be just not as good. Their tacos, made from lightly marinated pork leg, have a great balance between the tender lean and chewy fat parts. Diced onions at the bottom of the spit collect the drips of pork fat, which are added after the taquero dips the tortilla in the accumulated meat and onion juice. The result is a taco with a light yet satisfyingly sweet flavor; they’re addicting, and one is never enough.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Before coming to CDMX I found this place during my research and the anticipation was keeping me up at night. Finally made it here after visiting the pyramids.
The Pastor Especial plate looks intimidating but can easily be finished by one person if they are a taco lover. Nice combination tray of various salsas and plenty of lime. My wife was happy they served Cafe de la Olla.
