They had pieces painted with grana cochinilla and a brownish paint made of the bark of a tree growing in their property, and they also have pieces that are not only painted but also carved. We could not resist and bought a mid-size piece that was then signed and autographed for us! such a great touch. It is a huge plus they take credit cards, and a good place for collectors and people looking for unique, big pieces.

It's not the workshop that appears marked on google maps, but the one just across the street, occupying the corner of streets Del Tanque and Luis Donaldo Colosio. The artists were so nice, happy to share with us their passion and explain their 4-generation art of making alebriges. It's not handcrafts. Every thing there is a piece of unique and masterful art. Though very reasonably priced, I would have bought twice as many pieces, had I had enough money. Definitely an experience not to be missed.
