Love, love, love Tao. 2nd stay here. If you look for a central location away from the crowds this is your place to stay. Tucked away in the jungle, perfect relaxing and upscale living.

We spent two weeks here in a rental in RAM building and had a lovely time. This is truly a community with many people that live here full time. It is on the jungle side so a car is really a must to enjoy the local sights and to reach the Ocean. The Jungle fish beach club which is associated with Tao is fantastic for food and socializing. We drove the 20 minutes down to Tulum every day to enjoy all the things to do down there - Playa is about 30 minutes north and the town of Akumal - under 10 minutes away is a real gem - make sure you also check out the town side. This is not a typical resort vacation but if you would like to spend some time in a beautiful condo community with some great amenities (fitness, wellness centre, bistro) then Tao is hard to beat.

Be careful not to use airbnb to rent Namaste Tao Loft by Daria. Without any notice or inquiry direct to me after my stay, she accused us of stealing/damaging kitchen items. The kitchen was poorly equipped and I assume they have an issue with theft from workers. I have a 5 star rating on airbnb so this shakedown came out of the blue.

The good: Very high quality construction, finishing, and furnishing for all units, all levels. Soaked in the shade as surrounded trees were preserved as much as possible while building which a huge plus. Beautiful consistent open architecture. High security with friendly faces. Continuous daily maintenance, which is actually have a bit of a downside explained below. If you are golf player, then this probably is your heaven on earth. Beautiful swimming pools and gyms. Although, many gyms are closed due to covid 19 at the time of this post. The not so good: The highway noise, which really puts a damp on the quietness and serenity of the place. This can be much better with a high sound barrier wall next to the highway. Also daily maintenance is very loud in the morning with all the power washing and leaf blowing engines. This needs to be limited to one day a week and coordinated more efficiently. The whole place is extended from right after Akumal town and beach to just before Achtun Chen National Park. A bike/walking trail to Akumal which is few miles away accessed from every gate can add a lot to this place and to the whole local community. When we needed to go Akumal, we had to bike in the sideway of the highway which felt very unsafe. Unfortunately, all the cenotes in the whole place are ruined. I am guessing this is because the golf course fertilizers. Beach areas provided to all residents without all inclusive extra purchase is limited to two narrow areas. Jungle fish restaurant and across the bridge from the last gate. This place has 3 big gates, each one of them need a bike/pedestrians bridge across the highway with - as mentioned above - more all residents beach areas.
