Small airport but nice tree souvenirs shops

This Aeromexico is very RACIST! They treated us (Americans) very different and charged us more than the Mexicans who were checking in beside us. They were extremely rude and inconsistent with their policies. I hope I never have to use this airline ever again. Their employees and managers are very racist and treat you very differently and charge you more if you are not the same nationally as them (Hispanics). It was a very terrible experience and one I hope I never have to go through again. They upcharged us and no one else for the same exact baggage!

I was not happy due I got 15 minutes early I still miss my fly.

The Tapachula Airport is about the size of the Cordova, Alaska airport in 1972. At the Cordova airport, there was free coffee and snow. It was there that I began my coffee drinking career. The Tapachula Airport has nothing free but hotness. A hamburger (see photo here) is 181. A bottle of Coke, 44. These airport prices make you wonder if they wouldn't make more money charging less since a loser price would generate mass sales. I spent an entire day sitting, for the most part, in the Scala snack bar. I spent a good amount of time thinking that for Spanish speakers, Scala would be interpreted escala, an actual word in the Spanish travel vocabulary. There's an actual restaurant upstairs. If you follow the airport signs, you'll find yourself under arrest for charging into the out door of the secure area. But you'll see, the elevator to the restaurant is almost at the snack bar. There are stairs, if you like. While you'll spend about $300 pesos for a light meal, the restaurant has enough chairs and tables and plugs! The restaurant is the only place outside the secure area to plug anything in. Oh, just a note. There are 20 or 22-peso taxis colectivos between the airport gate (not the terminal door) and downtown Tapachula. These taxis also go to water, the Pacific Ocean, at Puerto Madero. Where your taxi goes will depend on which side of the busy highway you've decided to wait in. A taxi de sitio taxi from downtown to the airport is $250 mn (10MAY22). Also, as a bonus tidbit, if you need to go to the Talisman border, there are 21-peso colectivos. I searched an entire morning for the route of this taxi, and now, the simplist advice I can give is that the Talisman taxis pass the ADO bus station, called something else, CC or something, on the corner of Third and something. You can search on ADO in Maps. The Talisman taxis will have a sign that says "Talisman" in the front window. I put a picture of these taxis here in Maps, I think under Titanium Autobuses. There are a million different intercity and international bus companies, some very cheap, on Third Street. There is also a pretty good book store sitting in the midst of this travel corredor. Now, back at the airport, you'll find, if you sit there all day, that Haitians desperate to escape Tapachula come to ask the immigration people if the particular giant Mexican document allows them to fly out of town. It doesn't. Nobody ever has what he or she needs. These poor people have little information to base anything like a rational choice. They're so hot, so trapped, so desperate. It's the saddest thing you'll see at the airport. The next saddest thing is that the departure gates have NO SIGNAGE. Broadcast messages are garbled, and in my case, there were flights to Mexico and Tijuana leaving at almost the same minute. The Volaris guy said something I couldn't understand about both flights and ended by saying (Google Cut Off)

I have flown around the world both with the U.S. Navy and privately near Mexico it’s got to be the same on most racist airline I have ever seen in my life. They’re rude they’re disrespectful their policies are completely subjective to their whims are three people question to me and I was patted down twice how this airline is affiliated to DELTA is beyond me
