★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Otrora recinto de presentaciones abarrotadas,hoy,su fachada dañada y su cierre permanente remiten a la nostalgia y al pasado glorioso del teatro y del cine. Ciertamente un bien cultural en términos no solo de arquitectura también simbólico y en términos de espacio de memoria y de sentido. Sería bueno que CDMX revitalizara estos enclaves sin abonar en el despojo,la especulación mobiliaria y la resignificación del espacio público en términos de mercado.
Once an enclosure of packed presentations, today, its damaged facade and its permanent closure refer to nostalgia and the glorious past of theater and cinema. Certainly a cultural asset in terms not only of architecture also symbolic and in terms of space of memory and meaning. It would be good if CDMX revitalized these enclaves without paying for dispossession, chattel speculation and the resignification of public space in terms of the market.

La verdad es que se ve tétrico el lugar y peligroso por que se acercan a pedirte dinero sin saber si te van a despojar de tus cosas. Mucho cuidado cuando pasen por esa calle...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ El Teatro Lírico ubicado en el número 46 de la calle República de Cuba, hoy se muestra ante los curiosos como un edificio en ruinas. Fue construido por el arquitecto Manuel Torres Torrija y su pomposa inauguración fue el 10 de agosto de 1907 esa noche los actores José Vico y María Diez, ambos con trayectoria en los principales teatros de España y América llevaron la batuta de la obra "Las Vírgenes Locas" .
Al parecer poco convenció el desempeño de los actores y de la apariencia del teatro se dijo que no parecía elegante, pero era cómodo y decente.
En 1909 la administración de éste quedó en manos de otra compañía y lo primero que se les ocurrió fue cortartle el afrancesado nombre. Para 1922 en las guías de la ciudad aparecía como Teatro de la Comedia en el tercer cambio de nombre se decidió volver a su raíz y recuperar el nombre de Teatro Lírico.
Aquí desfilaron compañías de zarzuela, cancioneros, cómicos, fue el escenario de Cantinflas, Palillo y Jorge Negrete, entre otros.
