★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Compared with other temazcal experiences I had in Oaxaca this was a disappointment. I would not recommend this place as “the real thing” since there was nothing ceremonial or traditional integrated in the experience. We didn’t even get a cup of Té-mazcal which is the whole point why this ritual got the name…. I would describe this place as “commercial and touristy”.
If you just want to sit in a herbal steam sauna this can be your place. With 7 other people we were put into the space, the only thing the guy did was put in the hot stones. Next to us there was another group in a smaller Temazcal where he did the same at the same time. We had to put the water and herbs on it ourselves to get the steam. Afterwards we got a cold shower. That was it.
Long story short: There are way better places to do this. It would be a pity if you think this is the true temazcal experience, it can be so much more than this!
