So, so beautiful. The closest thing to ancient pyramids on this side of the world.

I need to go back , probably when it's not that hot and on my own. Hated the tour... Loved the place though!

This structure sits on the north side of the Great Ballcourt of Chichen Itza. Rather than a temple, it was most likely used as a viewing point for Mayan nobility to watch the games played below. It gets its name from a depiction of a slender bearded man, much different than most Mayan portrayals of human figures. In fact, the whole back wall is covered with various carvings. This well-preserved ancient structure is certainly worth seeing while visiting Chichen Itza.

On the north side of the great ball court is the Templo del hombre barbudo or Temple of the Bearded Man.

This small temple sits at the north end of the great ball court. It is remarkable due to the reliefs showing an image of a bearded man, that, some say , looks like a Viking. It is also remarkable due to the still preserved colors on the temple walls. Best to see it with a guide.

Hombre Barbado Temple is another beautiful bulging within the Chichen-Itzá archeological site. Impressive structure showing the power of the Mayan empire!
