The building is surprising, it is curious inside for what they tell us, and is full of mysteries as the whole area, we will never know with certainty what were the exact functions of many archaeological sites. It's a shame that you can not climb this place.

THE TEMPLE OF THE SKULL The Temple of the Skull is to the west of Temple XIII, the name of a mask decorates its main facade representing the skull of a rabbit, the glyph texts express the emblem of Palenque that has been read Bak "bone". The temple of the skull is part of the complex to the east-west direction of the Temple of the Inscriptions, Temple XIII creates a corridor that we could call “of the dead”. The Temple of the Skull reveals that it was used as a burial site since a secondary burial was found accompanied by a large number of jade objects, one of the pieces represents a glyphic date corresponding to February 20, 697 AD and the name of a ruler of Pomoná, Tabasco called Balam "Jaguar" Pomoná and Palenque maintained an alliance relationship in the middle of the 7th century. Tabasco glyphs record a visit by senior dignitaries from Palenque in the year 751

A scary place with the carved skull, makes you think about what Palenque would have actually been like when it was a city...you can no longer climb the temple or get close to the skull, but it's big enough that you can spot it from ground level.
