★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A principios del siglo XVIII la ciudad de Durango empezó a experimentar un proceso de gradual crecimiento, luego de haber transcurrido una época muy difícil, en la que prácticamente se despobló.
Al inicio de esa centuria se iniciaron importantes obras que contribuyeron a la reactivación de la economía y el desarrollo de la población, se realizaron importantes mejoras en la Catedral y en el Colegio de la Compañía, se reedificó el Convento de San Antonio, se renovó el Hospital de San Cosme y San Damián y se iniciaron nuevas construcciones que demandaba la, paulatinamente, creciente población. Entre ellas, se dio inicio a la construcción del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y una nueva ermita que se dedicó a San Miguel Arcángel.
At the beginning of the 18th century, the city of Durango began to experience a process of gradual growth, after having passed a very difficult time, in which it practically depopulated.
At the beginning of that century, important works began that contributed to the revival of the economy and the development of the population, important improvements were made in the Cathedral and in the College of the Company, the Convent of San Antonio was rebuilt, the Hospital of San Cosme and San Damián and new constructions began that demanded the, gradually, increasing population. Among them, the construction of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe and a new hermitage that was dedicated to San Miguel Arcángel began.
