★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fue el primer convento Dominico en América. Me gustó el interior conservado en todos sus detalles. Se nota el esfuerzo por mantenerlo. En el exterior la apariencia es bastante contraria la fachada luce deterioro por el tiempo y bandalismo con grafitti. Podría trabajarse en la recuperación de la fachada.
Adentro todo es muy neoclásico ya que sufrió modificaciones en el siglo XIX que le confieren el aspecto actual a la decoración. La fachada tiene una escultura en mayólica, esmalte metálico que hacían los árabes.
Me parece atractiva la simpleza del conjunto y lamenté no poder ver los recintos y habitaciones conventuales que se encuentran anexos al templo.
It was the first Dominican convent in America. I liked the preserved interior in all its details. You can see the effort to maintain it. On the outside, the appearance is quite contrary, the facade shows deterioration from time and bandalism with graffiti. It could work on the recovery of the facade.
Inside everything is very neoclassical since it underwent modifications in the 19th century that give the decoration its current appearance. The façade has a sculpture in majolica, metallic enamel made by the Arabs.
I find the simplicity of the whole attractive and I regretted not being able to see the convent rooms and rooms that are attached to the temple.
