★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Templo dominico del siglo XVIII, está compuesto de una bóveda, de construcción sólida y arquitectura regular: tiene 50 metros de longitud por 20 de latitud. Cuenta además con una casa curatal compuesta de una pieza, cuyas paredes están construídas con piedra y lodo, y techo de zacate.
La fiesta del 03 de mayo que se realiza en Santa María Alotepec ha sido objeto de diferentes tipos de análisis, sobre todo por su vínculo con la llegada de las primeras lluvias y el inicio de la siembra del maíz, en este sentido, por lo que se ha dicho que esta festividad posee un carácter eminentemente agrícola, para pedir por la fertilidad y el buen logro de las cosechas.
A pesar de ser reconocida porque la festividad invita a una peregrinación, en la que acuden centenares de indígenas mixes de toda la región y más allá de los límites estatales y nacional, el año pasado disminuyó su afluencia (aunque nosotros vimos muchísima gente).
Curiosamente, no es a la Santa Cruz a la que se le rinde culto en esta comunidad, sino a Jesús Nazareno, el Señor de Alotepec, a quien se le considera muy milagroso ??
