The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences - 77710 Playa del Carmen

The grounds and beach are beautiful, clean and so fun. The food was some of the best I've had at an all-inclusive. The staff was friendly and attentive. The room we stayed in needed updating, but it was clean and smelled good and the bed was comfortable so no problems there. The room service was pretty slow and there was an extra charge for it, but that's to be expected at places like this. The only draw back, I wish they left the infinity pool open later. All pools close at 5 and that seemed too early. At least one pool after dark would have made the stay better. The jungle area and the wildlife made this resort so fun to walk around. We loved our stay.

Went as family of four including a 14yr and 17 yr old to simply relax and get away from the craziness during the holidays. We found a well maintained resort, with excellent food and an incredibly hard working staff attending to all your needs. The swimming pools are well designed and the beach is a ton of fun. The beach has a unique feature in that they have filled a number of synthetic balloons with tons of sand and created wave breaks about 200 ft from the beach. So no big waves come into the resort sands. The resort crew cleans the sea weed every morning for a few hours so you awake to a clean beach. The attention to detail is phenomenal. The food, restaurant service and room service was amazing. We have been to over a dozen all inclusive resorts in the Carribean and Mexico over the last 20 years and this one stands out. It is so comforting that we never ventured out to Playa del Carmen as intended. And the best thing was the room sizes. The rooms all have a living room, kitchen, dining area and a 1-2 bedrooms.

This is a sprawling massive hotel complex with many pools and places to eat. The restaurant food was all quite good, very fresh and well prepared. The pools were also very well maintained. We were there for a wedding reception, and the staff was very welcoming and attentive. The downsides are typical of a huge resort. Getting chairs at the pool or beach was close to impossible, though spending $150 for a Bali bed was constantly encouraged. The beach area was very small considering the number of guests. Restaurants for dinner were reservation only. We were unfortunately placed in a room overlooking an adult only pool which was unfortunate considering we have young children. Music was loud and not age appropriate. Finally, after checking out, the hotel did not give us any wristband after allowing us to stay for a few hours more to spend time with friends who were staying one more night. Security questioned us on multiple occasions which is a good thing for security but a bit rude to guests who are finishing their stay.

Got married here with a party of 62. Overall was a great experience and we had an amazing time. Resort is a good size. We had a private candlelit dinner on the beach and that was awesome, best food we had during visit. Only cons would be that some rooms needed renovation, the size was great but ours had issues. They did attend to our issues. Also they CRANK out weddings. Our space had 2 weddings with only 1-hour in-between which was stressful and put us behind schedule, but it all came together. Have to be understanding that it isn't just your special day that day.

Had an amazing experience here! The food was fantastic. The service and servers were extraordinary! One of our favorites was Ivan at the Adult pool bar! The one thing I would improve is the ability to get grab and go food else where on the resort. Near the beach they have tons of options. However by most of the other pools you have to go sit down and that takes up to 45 minutes to an hour during prime afternoon time. Especially when all you want is some quick finger food to hold you over for dinner.

Great resort. We would come back for sure. The food was Amazing! The staff delivered high quality care to the guests. Karen at the pool greeted us every morning and helped us get situated. We had a large group and the only complaint we had was that they couldn't seat us together at the restaurants before 9pm every night. This was very unfortunate and did impact our experience. However, once we got the food, it was an adventure in food each time! The Sea Olive was one of our favorites, but you will be happy with whatever you end up with.

Highly recommend this resort. They really went all out for us. It was simply the most relaxing time we've had on vacation. I do not recommend the El Cid Marina fishing excursion set up by the resort. The boat's instruments were not working and they were not friendly or helpful. We wished we'd gone with the Vietnam Vet's trip on our own. On resort, however, was stunning. Truly a 5 senses experience. We would return.

Both myself and my girlfriend had a great time at this resort. The food was excellent for the most part and for a resort in Mexico it was by far the high quality of cuisine we had both had. We tried all of the restaurants and the Italian and Mexican were our favourites. The pools were great with each apartment complex having their own pool. We were lucky to have a ground floor pool we could swim right out of our back door. The only downsides really was the beach was kind of rocky in the water and not very big. They also had a bit of a seaweed issue the first couple days we were there. The only other issue we could think of was they rented our pool area out a couple days to wedding parties but we just went to the beach anyways. Overall great experience, excellent bartenders and excellent service by the staff across the board.
