The Golden Bee - 36080 Guanajuato

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful house and magnificent garden.

Our stay in the queendom was perfect! We love to cook meals and the kitchen was such a dream. Everything we needed or could want was there to use. The table can seat an army and we enjoyed many a dinner with the large doors opened so we could sprawl out onto the patio. Morning coffee was enjoyed in the garden where we would watch the butterflies land on so many tropical fragrant flowers. We ate in more often than we have on any other trip! Who wouldn't with that amazing kitchen? We stayed for 3 weeks and found the neighborhood to be quite endearing. I was glad to be staying a bit further out from the downtown area. We were able to settle into a routine and not have so many tourists right outside our door. There is a market right across the street where many of the food basics can be found. We met the owners of the local brewery Cerveza Artesanal Gambusino de Guanajuato, which is only one block up the street. They were thrilled to have us and tell us all about their beers. We stayed a while and they invited us to try them all. The Frida was my favorite. A walk into town is all downhill and takes about 15 minutes. I felt safe and welcomed with warm smiles by everyone I passed on my walks. We took taxis back to the Golden Bee from downtown almost every time, at $2.50 a ride it was an affordable luxury. A few evenings were spent visiting with some of the other guests on the upstairs veranda and just taking in the amazing panoramic view. We even got a lightning storm that lasted at least an hour with no rain. It was just spectacular. It was so easy to just chill and relax at the Golden Bee. The beds were super comfortable and Sara and Theo have taken every measure to make their home a special and inviting place to land while in Guanajuato. I can't say enough great things about this place. We loved it, have already gone back for our second visit and would happily stay there again in the future. 5 stars!

Absolutely gorgeous rooms, stunning design, comfortable and cozy with everything you need to have an enjoyable, relaxed stay in Guanajuato. Short walk to the town center, with breathtaking views of the city. Sara and Carrie are delightful hosts. Can't wait to go back!
