★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dreadful food, bad service. Avoid at all costs! Only thing good was the effort by the hibachi chefs, they tried to put on a good performance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We enjoyed our dinner at moongate, the food was decent, not bad or anything to write home about, the sushi i would skip next time not that it was bad tasting but the kinda cheaped out on the fillings. The staff of course was superb and very friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Moongate at Hyatt Ziva is a great place for a dinner show and delicious desserts.
We made a dinner reservation for the hibachi performance and were not disappointed. When we arrived, we were quickly served to our table and our waiters were very friendly. Our chef, Antonio, put on an impressive performance, tossing knives and spatulas around before he lit up the grill with fire. He then cooked our fried rice in front of us while we were served miso soup and small sushi bites. I have a seafood allergy, and the chef was sure not to cross-contaminate, cooking my meat first before the others.
The miso soup was a lovely starter. It was not too salty (which is often the main problem for most miso soups. The sushi bites were not spectacular (granted, mine were vegetarian.) As for the main course, my fried rice was tasty, but greasier than I would have liked. The grilled chicken and steak, on the other hand, were delicious. The grilled veggies on the side were also very flavorful.
The dessert. This is what earned The Moongate its 4 stars. We ordered the lava cake and matcha cheesecake and I still dream about the lava cake. This dessert tasted as amazing as it looked. I could taste that they used Mexican chocolate for the cake because it was unlike any other lava cake I've had. The ice cream on top was so creamy, light, and paired perfectly with the rich cake. The matcha cheesecake was a completely different kind of mouthwatering dessert. It was paired with granny smith apples on the side to cut the creaminess. The matcha was subtle but the cheesecake overall was phenomenal.
Overall, this restaurant has good service, a great hibachi performance, above average meat, and unforgettable desserts. If it were not for the full experience of the hibachi performance, the beautiful interior of the restaurant, the friendly service, and those fantastic desserts, The Moongate may have just earned 3 stars from me.
