The Native Choice, Costa Maya Excursions - 77940 Mahahual

Our tour was on December 17th, 2021. We were surprisingly the only guests from our cruise ship to book an excursion unaffiliated with the cruise line, so we ended up getting a private tour! Our tour guide, David was extremely knowledgeable about the Mayan culture, both past and present. It was super interesting to learn new things about their way of life, political systems and community structure. David answered all of our questions that came to mind in the moment and knew all the best spots to get a great photo- even acting as our personal photographer so that my mom and I could both be in photos together. We really enjoyed all parts of the tour- the Mayan ruins and the private access to the 7-color lagoon. The complimentary tacos and drinks were delicious! It was one of the best experiences we've had with a company and attribute that to David's knowledge and kindness.

We had an awesome day with Adan. We went kayaking in the 7 color lagoon and then hung out at their sea side facilities. Lunch was pork and chicken tacos and was fabulous and all of their salsa choices were fun to try! They kept the drinks full and our group of ten enjoyed hanging out. Our kayak tour was a little rough as we had a lot of wind that day so half of us turned back early but Adan kept leading the other half as far as we wanted to go. Our van ride was comfortable and Adan was a great guide. They were very responsive to all of my questions prior and even let me bring my own (inflatable) paddleboard to use instead of a kayak. I would highly recommend this company and won't hesitate to book with them again next time we are in Costa Maya.

Edder and Adan were our guides - and they were amazing! We toured all over several Mayan ruins then they took us to a remote lagoon for some of the best food we've ever had.

This place is a great value alternative to booking through the cruise line. We gotva great deal on a Chaccoben tour. They aren't very far from the port. It was about a 10 minute walk and half that time was walking through the mall of shops to get out of the port area. Our tour guide Diego was the best. He has a great personality and very informative. We will use them again for other tours if ever in this port again.

We had the best experience with Joel and Miguel! They were very friendly, informative and patient. We did the extreme tour of the ruins and the 7 color lagoon. The lagoon was the best part of the trip! Tacos, drinks and the best seats in the whole lagoon! Well worth it!

Erik our tour guide was amazing! We did the Mayan Experience which took us to the Chacchoben Temple ruins and then to a very small village, where we had a beautiful family welcome us into their space and teach us how to make tortillas by hand. They then prepared us a traditional meal and showed us the local herbs and spices they use throughout. The surrounding gardens were breathtaking and we were able to smell, taste and observe wild growing plants like: vanilla, cinnamon, allspice, achote/Anatto, cocoa pods, chayote, pineapple, bananas, orange, garlic and the list goes on. Our tour initially started with about 10 people, however, once we began to all split off to do our individual tours, it only became my husband, myself and then our tour guide Erik. He was very informative, and engaging. The entire tour felt personal and comfortable despite the scorching heat and long van ride. We were given fresh, cold, bottled water whenever we wanted it and the van was blasting cold air the whole time. Thank you again Erik for the once in a lifetime experience and we will definitely be sharing our experience with The Native Choice with everyone!!!

The native choice was amazing. The anxious 1 mile hike to their place and the quality of their water (for drinks) are my only complaints. Adan, our guide was outstanding. The driver Edgar knew the area so well he anticipated bumps before we saw them. The place felt like a 5 star resort, the drinks flowed and the food was seriously the best we had during our cruise!

I just took a group of ten on the Chacchoben tour and it was AMAZING! Our guide was David and he was so knowledgeable and friendly! He was very passionate about sharing the history and he knew a lot about the plant and wildlife that surrounded us, was a cool bonus. Don’t book through the cruise lines! They were so accommodating with our last minute group. You get such a better experience when you are with a smaller group. And it was cheaper than the cruise line offered. 10/10 would book again.
