The Octopus’s Garden is located between Puerto Vallarta with its bustling nightlife, Bucerias and the ever popular beach towns Punta Mita and Sayulita. It is situated in Banderas Bay in the small village of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle where the Marina and anchorage add to the relaxed atmosphere of a backpackers’ haven. In this beautiful place you can enjoy a taste of real Mexico as well as such tourist activities as surfing, sailing, hiking and biking.
At the Octopus’s Garden you’ll find a harmonious rendezvous for the different traditions from this region within the European feel of hospitality. The Mexican and Huichol indigenous culture can be enjoyed in the art gallery and freshly roasted coffee from the highlands of Nayarit.
The hostel offers a cozy ambience with communal areas and convenient amenities: comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, fast wi-fi, hot water all day.
Renowned as a music venue, the patio restaurant and upstairs bar have a seasonal schedule with workshops and dance classes on the sprung wood dance floor. Concerts of flamenco and other genres take place in the winter months, and regular live music events through the year.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Along with friends we had a great time here. Dinner was delicious from shrimpburger to ribs to chicken. Reasonable prices with drinks.. Music by shuffle band was good too. Lot's of people ? dancing. Fun evening at this pretty treetop restaurant!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We come back to this place over and over to enjoy family meals, they make the best ribs I've had anywhere. Reasonable prices, great staff, cozy setting. Live bands are just another addition that makes you enjoy each and every visit no matter why you drop in. I am unable to eat gluten and can find several meals to suit my needs here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very nice and relaxing atmosphere - but I was there during the off-season though and I was the only one there on a hot Wednesday in August, at 5:30 pm! ;-) My total length of stay was approximately 1.5 hours. As food goes, it's all good but, I really like their fajitas; so delicious plus their guacamole is a hit too.
In addition, I prefer being up on the second floor (bar area) with the large tree branches everywhere. A very airy sector which is somewhat independent from the rest of the establishment along with a very unique environment to set the mood.
The bar and restaurant (AKA: "Treehouse Bar") is a husband and wife team: Alfonso (<-spelling) tends the upstairs bar section most of the time - while his wife and daughters run the restaurant section. His wife IS an exceptional chef! And when you combine her skills along with their daughters' assistance, you're in for the ultimate service package!!
Good and friendly people, that offer great service, excellent food and tasty, ice-cold drinks! Oh yes, their organic coffee and deserts are heavenly divine too! You have to try this place if you're ever in the La Cruz area!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best hostel I've stayed in.Personal attention, cafe and community classes including yoga,, dance, music brunches weekends, other events.. Great union of group, sharing meals, etc. Location very close to beach and transport - easy access to PV city, and Sayulita/san Pancho. Its also a good long term stay. Big space overall, big kitchen, high speed wifi, not too many in dorms, and several private rooms. Cruz itself is not overly busy, yet regional and local farmers markets in season.Town has lots of music venues, and several good restaurants.

P.S. if you prefer go to sleep early and sensitive to sounds, I recommend buying earplugs, because sometimes nearby cafe plays loudly music.
But the hostel is very good. Tnank you Octopus Garden for hospitality, good service and warm welcome.
