★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super awesome Bar and Restaurant right on the Bacalar Lagoon! Staff was amazing, drinks were great. Got there just in time for the "Lagoon Festival" their DJ Carlos also does tour guides and he is amazing! We did not stay here, just for drinks and food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a great stay at Yak Lake House. it is definitely a party hostel; a large portion of the backpackers will visit for drinks or activites. The staff is really warm and welcoming.
Veri did great with events.
Maya and Ezekiel were kind at the front desk.
Alphonso was great behind the bar.
Jacob was accommodating in the kitchen!
I'll definitely be coming back!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Laura and Paula are amazing hosts. They brought us to a beautiful area for a picnic and made us delicious guacamole and tostadas. Such a fun time with a bunch of people from the hostel. We all passed the vibe check. ???

You can hangout there, get drinks, food (from breakfast to dinner). Prices are reasonable and service good. They have a nice view and location, directly at the lagoon. Also a pier so you can have a swim there.
Wednesdays is a big party! So it makes sense to plan your trip over a Wednesday.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yak lake hotel is absolutely amazing. We barely ever left the premises because everything is available there. The atmosphere is amazing. And Pedro, Laura, and Sharon, prepare the BEST activities: from gym and yoga classes in the morning, to mojito making class (with 2 free drinks!), to salsa dancing, live music, beer pong tournament, etc. its just magical, they are amazing. You can also rent boats, kayaks, paddle boards from the hostel directly which is super practical. Our boat ride was delayed because of an issue with the boat, and they offered us another one a few hours later, along with free drinks. They were simply amazing. Would definitely recomment

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Hostel is right on the lake. We took some tours there and really like the staff and volunteers there, they were all really helpful and friendly. If you do the tour please do not put sunscreen including biodegradable sunscreen as the hostel will tell you as it destroy the stromatolites in the lake.
We did not stay there as the hostel increases the price significantly for last minute bookings. In addition, the hostel seem to attract overwhelming young partying crowd from Europe and we did not feel we were part of that demographic. Still, this was a great hostel and a very welcoming place and we frequented there while in Bacalar.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great location on the water and close to good restaurants. I booked the day of and it was really expensive for a hostel but the staff is nice and friendly. There is a bar and tours and stuff right from their dock. A nice area for hanging where they have activities all the time. Clean facilities, good drinks, good food. A little bit of a party hostel but not too much. Definitely recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed here for 5 nights and I am not really sure how i should rate this place.
The common area looks really nice indoors and especially outdoors with the jetty.
The rooms are fine, the beds look a bit dodgy but are quite comfortable.
My main issue with this hostel is the lack of a social traveller atmosphere I felt.( could be because of me or the timing)
People were just sitting on the beach beds all day, and there is only small tables near the bar so it felt more like a restaurant seating area than a place to connect. I as well didn't notice much of the activities and there were several nights where i was sitting alone at the bar at 10pm and there was no one else around at all.
The place has so much potential and i hope that at different times the vibe at the hostel is a different one.
