History

Our company was born in 1979 as a proposal to give added value to natural graphite in the Sonora region in Mexico, which was the third largest global reserve of this coal-derived mineral.

This is how our company emerged developing different types of products whose main base is natural graphite.

In June 1979, our first contact and product to be developed called CON-TONE, which was used as a drilling mud in the oil industry, emerged. The International Minerals company located in Covington Louisiana was our first customer consuming between 3,000 and 6,000 55-pound bags monthly.

Later in 1986, through MEXICANA DE COBRE, part of GRUPO MEXICO, a new project was initiated, which consisted of preparing a substitute for the carbon paste used in the smelting of the company's electric furnaces. Currently this product is the anchor in our company. The electrode paste made from natural graphite product that replaced the paste made from calcined anthracite which was imported from Germany and Brazil.

During our growth in 1993, another range of products came out, such as graffiti paint, a product placed in various metal markets and used in IZO molds as a coating to avoid metal sticks.

In 2000 we developed another product called earthing electrodes used by COMISION FEDERAL DE ELECTRICIDAD and other electrical companies.

In 2001 we opened ourselves to the exploration of minerals seeking our autonomy as suppliers of our own raw materials in key minerals and that was how the EL CHALATE mine began operations. Mine that currently has 235,000 tons of POSITIVE reserves, 81,000 tons of PROBABLE reserves and 220,000 tons of POSSIBLE reserves to produce different graphite-based

Also from 2001 we started selling high quality graphites for export, supplying a large part of the wholesale clients that distribute our graphite worldwide.

In 2018, exploration work began and we are in the process of commercializing high-content calcium carbonates (CaCo3) as well as commercialization of Dolomites.
