Travel Agency Ecotour - 29960 Palenque

Pésimo servicio, el conductor "perico" tiene negocio con los guías del parque arqueológico, como no quisimos contratarlo se molestó y nos dejó botados en el parque, se llevó nuestra mochila con comida y dinero en la camioneta, nadie de la empresa atendió nuestra queja.

Muy mal. Nos vendieron un tour que te deja al final en San Cristobal, pasando primero por Misol-ha y Agua Azul. A propósito no nos dieron la informacion completa, nos mintieron. Cuando llegamos a Agua Azul resulta que NO son ellos los que te llevan hasta San Cristobal, sino otra compania. Solo nos enteramos cuando estabamos en Agua Azul y de repente el chofer dijo que teniamos que sacar nuestras maletas y esperar el otro minibus!!! Nos quedamos en el estacionamiento con las maletas, esperando como otra hora mas. Y cuando llego el otro minibus, no era de la calidad que segun esto te venden, e.g., nos dijeron que las maletas no iban a ir arriba, pero desde Agua Azul a San Cristobal asi fue. En fin, no son honestos, no lo recomiendo.

We signed up for a full day tour with Ecotour, including Palenque, Agua Azul and the Misol-ha waterfall. There were several options for departure time and we chose the 8AM one, which, the leaflet said, would allow us 4hours to visit Palenque. Our driver was 40 minutes late to pick us up in the morning, meaning we finally had 3h20 in Palenque. Yet, we made sure we showed up on time at the meeting point after this first visit. There the driver was late AGAIN, and again we spent 40 minutes waiting for him and received no excuse for it. He then explained we would have only 25 minutes to spend in Misol ha (instead of 1 hour). On our way back, we had to wait for at least 30 minutes for another van to come pick up some of our passengers for San Cristóbal. The driver ensured us we would still be back on time at Palenque, which of course was not the case. Overall a bad experience and unprofesional company.

This agency lies to tourist about the conditions at the waterfalls. On our explicit question rather the water at Agua Azul is now blue since it was raining the day before they said “Noooo, it’s blue for sure, it hasn’t been raining up in the mountains”. When we got there the water was completely brown and the experience was far from what we were promised. It is unacceptable they lie to tourists and disrespectfull to our holidays where each day counts. We would never book them again!

The places were beautiful to visit, but we were not impressed by the tour company. We were told we weren't allowed to bring our food bag out of the car at the ruins. They were late at the first pick up point and two extra people added to the vehicle which left the SUV overcrowded and my daughter and I had to take it in turns to sit on on the lumpy hard crack between the two seats in the back. I found this completely unacceptable as we paid for a tour and the drives were long, windy and bumpy. It left a very bad impression on us.

What they don't tell you: the tour to San Cristóbal ends at Aguas Azules. You'r driver will unload you luggage and then (but only then) tell you that some other bus will come and pick you up. So while it's getting dark, you have to wait with all your belongings in a very exposed place and hope that indeed some bus and driver that you have never spoken too, will come and take you to San Cristóbal. They were outright lying about this, but when the second driver arrived, he confirmed, this is what they always do. So you will only arrive in San Cristóbal at 11pm, after racing through the mountains, in a used down and soiled bus, your luggage on the roof, a crack in the windshield and a driver who is scared and tells you about road blocks and robberies and shootings on that road (which is why the big busses (ADO) don't take that route anymore). Also they might forget to pick you up from your hostel as promised, so phone them and remind them. Also they might take your luggage, without telling you, on another bus. Also they might take you on a different tour than the one you booked, because of capacity (happened to other people on our bus). very FRIENDLY but UNRELIABLE and UNTRUSTWORTHY.

I do not recommend this agency. They only spoke Spanish for one, but I can understand some so it wouldn't be such an issue if he wasn't speaking softly so no one in the back could hear, and he was speaking too rapidly instead of at least trying to accommodate non native speakers. My bigger issue is they made me change buses and rushed me off in just seconds so I was a tad frantic trying to make sure I grabbed everything around me. After he literally pushed me into the other bus I realized I didn't even see him put my backpack on from the back of the old bus but I saw him grab something and assumed. After I realized he didn't grab my other bag with my good boardshorts and a nice jacket. I called them about it and they said they'd give them back for 200pesos! They make the trip daily.. The owner was very rude to me and kept blaming me. A tour company is supposed to transfer your things and make sure you got it all and not rattle you totally unnecessarily to change buses in 30seconds flat. Not like Mexicans are ever in a rush.
